A wonderful man, loved working with him. Always accessible outside of class or afterwards to help with questions and clarifications. One of the hardest classes I have taken at RVC but he made it interesting, fun, and was very caring.

Prof Beert is my favorite professor at RVC. I've taken two of his classes and loved every minute of both. His lectures really help you understand how music got to where it is today and he very clearly loves what he does. I recommend taking at least one of his classes before you leave RVC.

Comment:

I do not like music, but this class was a breeze. Prof Beert made it enjoyable. Tests are multiple choice with extra credit at the end, and then three papers about a concert. I recommend him for sure.

Comment:

Phenomenal professor and a great class. Beert is engaging, genuine, and just an all around nice person. Because music is so much a part of who he is as a person, you end up learning way more than you expect or need. But it's interesting, too. MANY tests, but they're easy. I studied the day before each and never got below an A. Highly recommend!

Mr. Beert is a great prof. He is really passionate about what he teaches. He makes music enjoyable. The material is super easy. Tests are a breeze if you look over the notes he gives. I would definitely recommend him.

Professor Beert is a good teacher he really loves what he does. Class was all lecture so show up and take notes. He's quite understanding to life circumstance and will work with you. It did get a little boring but easy summer class.

Nice guy. I feel like he gave up part of the way through the semester. To be fair it was a summer session, but by the second to last class the lecture became so dry it felt like I had just tried swallowing pure cinnamon, but in my brain.

He's an amazing musician and teacher. I've taken a few classes from him, and I've also worked with him professionally. Great person. Take his class. He is also extremely understanding and can help you with literally any problem.

Professor Beert is an understanding teacher. Especially if you have a disability and have accommodations, I recommend anyone that takes this class to take this professor. The tests are a little difficult though. The tests are like the tests in Non-Western Music but a bit more organized. Overall nice guy.

He knows his stuff but wants to be liked more than anything. He skips over parts of books and content because he it is too hard. I think he is one of the laziest teachers I ever had, and this class is more intended for entertainment, not for challenging and advanced learning.

A truly fantastic professor and I looked forward to every class. His lectures are hilarious as well as informative and his tests are based off of them. He likes student participation as long as it's relative to the lecture. Only homework is studying for exams and two concert reports which are very easy. Would highly recommend!!!

Very interesting and varied lectures. He brought a variety of unusual instruments to class. A little out of class listening and note reviewing but no reading. I learned a lot of new and interesting things. I was actually sad when the class ended!

Professor Beert is one of my favorite teachers. Class is so simple and enjoyable. Even if you're not a music major, class will be easy for you if you attend and pay attention. He teaches at the pace of the class, so if something isn't understood, he will keep covering it until the class gets it. I would definitely recommend him.

Extremely easy laid back teacher. One of the easiest A's I've gotten at school. And it is interesting. Professor Beert uses video and audio props enough to make class somewhat enjoyable.
