Mike was probably one of the best professors and teachers I have ever had. He really taught me how to read and write effectively. He is super helpful and will always make time to meet with you if you ever need anything. I was in his office once for help. His classroom harbors great discussions and learning. Participation is KEY!

Super cool guy. He has no filter, lets you call him by his first name, and gets you thinking. He really pushes students to do their best. If you are the type of student that just wants to show up and put in minimal work to get an A, this is NOT your type of professor. One of my favorite classes I have ever taken.

I emailed prior to signing up to ensure that I would like the topic, which it turned out to be something I am passionate about - BUT I was extremely disappointed. Class discussions are pointless and round about. He doesn't go by Bentley's grading scale so good luck trying to figure out where you stand. Meetings with him don't really help either.

I personally really liked Mike, but he is an acquired taste. He lets you call him by his first name and loves having open, not-filtered conversations. Really interesting class, but it is a lot of work for a non-major class. Only take him if you are willing to do a lot of work and want to learn. You have to be willing to put in the time to get an A.

Looking back at the courses I’ve taken while at Bentley, only one course stands out to me: EXP 101 w/Prof Frank. It was definitely the WORST class I’ve ever taken in my college career and no other person in this school is as obnoxious as Mike Frank. Before I graduate I thought everyone should know that his classes are not worth your time.

He means well, but his class is hard. If you put enough time and effort (working on the papers, doing all the homework, participating in discussions) you should do fairly well. For someone not interested in English, I found this class a pain. I wouldn't take his class again unless it was a CIN class (maybe).

Yes I admit, he favors women. BUT, he is fair by all means. Always helpful in class - interrupt him if you do not understand what he is talking about, argue with him, don't be afraid to have a different opinion, challenge him. He wants you to have a good grade and if you do your part he is holding onto his promise. Hard but fair. Also to men.

For anyone taking him, or deliberating about it, my only advice is that you must be engage yourself in class. I am not a girl, I took him twice, and got 4.0s both times. It helps to be interested in the subject, as I was, but it's a waste of time if you think you can rot behind your laptop the whole time. All you need to do is care.

While I'm not surprised with the negative reviews, I must say I enjoyed the class. He loves opera, and if you do too, you'll love the class. Yes, he's quirky, and yes, he can be a bit frustrating sometimes, but -again- you'd have a hard time finding somebody this passionate about his teaching topic...Plus the NYC trip is a plus and grading is easy!

do not take. i am currently suffering through it and i just want it to be over. you dont really watch movies, and the subject goes off topic (and usually is about something ****ed) waay too often. the readings are ridiculously hard, and really the only movies he wants u to watch are hitchock films. unless ur theoretically brilliant, DO NOT TAKE
