Comment:

Holler is passionate about what he is teaching. That being said, if you show up and give your best shot but just communicate, you'll receive an A. Class is made up of a few easy 1 page homework assignment and 3 individual speeches, 1 group speech. He grades fairly easy as long as he knows you're trying.

Comment:

One of my favorite classes of the quarter. Although I had some speaking experience, the idea of a public speaking class scared me, but Holler was extremely supportive and clear of what he expected. He fostered the classroom so that each student was supportive of one another and passed on some of his sage life lessons as well. Great, great guy.

Comment:

This non native speaker was speaking and was clearly nervous, Mr. Mike Holler interrupted his speech with a , "Will you just please move on?" No respect. Threw a temper tantrum when some people were talking. Doesn't talk about what he wants from speeches yet very strict.

Mike is very straight forward. He tells you everything you need to know during lecture. His quiz's is fairly easy! About five questions on each quiz. This class help you get over the fear of speaking in front of a class. It is hard not pass this class. I recommend anyone who wants to take Spch 10, to take Mike!

Mike is a great teacher, lets all be real, no one likes to talk in front of people but he really makes everyone feel really comfterble in his class. His lectures are a little boring but what teachers arnt at times. Great guy to, he really cares about his students.

Very easy. Just do the assignments and show up for class. His class should really be about 15-20 minutes long but drags on and on. He explains things in excruciating detail and reads straight from the text. 2 speeches and 1 group speech. A lot of little written assignments about yourself and like 8 easy quizzes. Marks you down if you don't show up.

Overall, great guy. Sometimes drags on a bit, but grades very fairly. Only two actual speeches. About 5-6 written assignments. Pre-announced quizzes on readings. Not the most fun class, but it's speech, so what can you expect.

pauses forever in the lectures, not the most amusing class to attend but it is SO so easy. everything is straightfoward..reading is 3 pages the most and quizzes are a sinch. recommended for a high grade

Holler teaches this class in a clear concise manner. The class is divided up into interpersonal, group, and public communication. Most of the class follows the format provided by the required workbook. He is very clear in what he wants of the students, and he grades very fairly. It should not be hard at all to get an A, but you must keep up.

8 quizzes. 3 skill reports. 1 team speech. 2 oral speeches. He is kind of not a fair grader on the speeches. I think that the peer evaluation is garbage. People will give you bad grades and thats what they gave me on my speech. He is very helpful and clear. Quizzes are straight forward. The readings are about 4-6 pages long, almost common sense.

not the funnest class in the world, but its speech, come on. very chilled guy. probably the clearest teacher i have ever had. has the best paced class. does assign a few assignments and quizzes but they are hecka easy. Low stress easy class, plus you learn quite a bit. Class sounds intimidating on first day but all the work is simple.

Mike's an awesome prof. Laid back attitude, good sense of humor. easy class, need to show up though. He expects you make an effort and be respectful-although that should be a given. Cool prof. Make sure you come to class though! Don't b tardy!

holler was an ok teacher. did most of hw, got a's on 2 outta 3 of my speeches, but missed 1 hw paper n got a B. riduculous! he reads off the book n takes up all of class goin over it. never lets u out early. only had 1 group n 2 individual speeches. ur final is ur last speech.

He is one of the greatest teacher at De Anza. If you work hard, you can get a good grade. You can ask him whatever you want to know about the field. The class is very much fun and helpful. I like him very much!

Important on his green sheet: "50 pts will be given for attending class. Each absence after the first week will result in the deduction of 5pts, and two tardy arrivals will equal an absence." A whole lot of busy work, and if ur a self learner i dont recommend unless u dont mind attending repititive and boring classes every day.

Comment:

He is a good teacher, very laid back. He doesn't push anyone, if you do your work that's great and if you don't hten that is your problem. Sometimes the class feels like a waste of time. The class often only needs to be 30 min long. There are only three speeches. 1 with a group, 1 persausive, and 1 informative. I would reccomend him and this class.
