Very dull at lecturing made worse by his tendency to dwell into subjects unrelated to what's being tested in addition to occasionally making unappreciated political references. Do not try to read everything in the textbook-you will run out of time. Just memorize what he lectures on. Daily quizzes can be very detail oriented.

Dr. Martin is the BEST professor I've had at JCU. His lectures are amazing and he is extremely knowledgeable in his field. He explains difficult concepts very clearly and is always willing to help. His tests are not easy but the way he teaches makes you actually learn the material. I highly recommend Dr. Martin!

This class has a challenging 3 question quiz every day. Dr. Martin is really really educated regarding molecular cell biology, so sometimes his explanations are too complicated for an entry bio course. This class isn't an easy A, get ready to study.

Dr. Martin was not a bad person, he was however not the best professor. You have quizzes every day which do nothing but affect your grade negatively. The only other grade was tests which were also difficult. I would however recommend him if you're already extremely interested and good at biology. If not, take another professor.

Worst class ever, Dr. Martin is so dull in his lectures and gives 3 point quizzes at the beginning of every class. So much material is covered in a short amount of time it is impossible to remember every detail which is unfortunate because the quizzes contain detailed questions and answers. Avoid this professor and take a different one.

As long as you go to class, you'll be fine. His tests are very fair and you know what to expect because he specifically tells you in class when he thinks something is important. He is VERY helpful if you see him during office hours and will really make sure you know the important material. I would recommend him for any bo class.

I do NOT recommend taking Dr. Martin. I study hard and come to every class, yet his quizzes and tests did not test the information fairly. I read on here that he is really good, but I would try to avoid this if you want an A.

Martin's class is the most boring class I've ever taken -- not only because of the material but also because of his monotone lecturing. Martin is a good guy, but his class is terrible to sit through and you have no idea what type of questions will show up on quizzes and tests. You should have no problem getting a B if you put in some effort.

Dr. Martin is the best professor at JCU. Doesn't require attenddance, but you'll really learn if you go to class and you'll actually want to go. He also gives out excellent notes. You don't really need the text.
