Can't say I'm a fan. I had him for two classes, HF100 being the first. I since graduated college and still to this day remember him in a negative way. He had favorites, randomly called on people he didn't like, his courses were hard (not in an oh this is a good challenge kind of way) and his requirements were unclear.

Comment:

Professor Oshins is great. You can really tell he is passionate about Hospitality and that he has a ton of experience. He has also been teaching this class for a long time and knows the material very well. If you show interest in his class he will make an effort to make sure you get the most out of it.

Go to class. Almost all the exam material is from the lectures not the book, and he'll notice if you aren't there. Book is fairly irrelevant, case studies you will need. He has a lot of energy which can be a little much at times, & lots of personal stories. So many awful group projects, but he's a fairly easy grader on those unlike his exams.

If you have the capability to listen to someone that puts a good 3 second pause between each word he says then this is the teacher for you. The only good thing about him was that he made me realize how much I don't like hospitality.

He clearly is passionate about the hospitality field, but when it comes to his grading criteria as well as his tests, he's incredibly vague in terms of what he's looking forwhat he's going to really test you on. Be sure to go to his office hours, because he apparently will tell you, almost word for word, what he wants you to dostudy for.

Professor Oshins was great. He kept things interesting enough so I never paid attention to the clock. I was considering changing my major to Hospitality before I took his class, but HF100 is what really committed me to the decision. He knows what he's talking about and his classes all follow the syllabus he gave out at the beginning of the semester

nice guy. lectures were interesting & you'll learn a lot. projects & assignments are very easy & don't require too much time. text book is very important first half of semester, but you don't even use it second half. exams were hard but if you put in the work you can easily make an A in this class. also he'll love you if you go to office hours

Professor Oshins is very experienced. He is very passionate about the hospitality industry. There are a lot of busy work outside of class. Dr. O is the coolest! Everyday I looked forward to going to his class because Dr. Oshins is an incredible teacher. He uses he real life experiences with the text book to make the subjects clear and applicable to real life. I know that my time in HF100 will be a great foundation to my other courses in SHA. Dr.O was always available when I had Q's.

Professor Oshins thinks he's hilarious! It's more funny than annoying. Laugh at his jokes and he'll love you. The class is fairly easy and he knows a lot about the subject. He's had a lot of experience and talks about it a lot. Do exactly what he wants and exactly how he wants and you'll do well!

While some think he's a little self-absorbed, he has every right to be. Oshins has had amazing opportunities in the Hospitality industry, and hearing his stories was both entertaining and helpful. HF100 was the best class I've taken at college, and Oshins really inspired me to pursue Hospitality. Everyone should take this class with this professor!

Oshins is extremely nice and extremely smart. He's always willing to help and is obviously very passionate about the industry. Sometimes he can be a bit strange, but I liked his humor. Fair grader. Tests were challenging, so make sure to study for them.

Hard class, as everyone says, he is a "nit-picker" so write everything down. It's an interesting class; i enjoyed it, but he does sometimes have an attitude.

Oshins seems cool and friendly and nice but he's pretty much not. His tests are ridiculous as are his projects (which take about 6 hrs). Since its a required class suck it up, pay attention, do all the posted readings and write down every little stupid thing he says in class.
