Ms. Ogasawara has a very spontaneous and funny personality that makes people feel welcomed in the classroom. I personally was tardy to the class a lot, but if you make the effort to do well in class then she won't mind. Her class assignments can be a little disorganized, so its important to always check with her of what assignments to turn in

She's a great teacher! Her teaching style might take some time to adjust to but most people get the hang of it! She kinda throws you into the deep part of the pool at the start of each new grammar pattern and expects you to learn it on your own with the grammar notes textbook. But she's super good at drilling it into your head! Really friendly too

She has been teaching for over 25 years and it shows in her style. Fills up time reading hw out loud one by one. Sweet demeanor & students could get away with a lot. Easy teacher. Not accessible outside class. Doesn't like to answer many questions. Tired of students. Felt like another face run through the same drills as 100s of others before me.

Comment:

Ogasawara Sensei is my spirit animal. She's funny (has a squeaky, entertaining voice,) a very interactive teacher (gives everyone an opportunity to participate,) and is extremely hard working for her students. For writing, it'll take many tries, but she'll work with you and literally correct every single thing until its an A. Great teacher.

The class itself is pretty easy but as for the teacher she is very unclear with her assignments. The homework pages are unclear, she doesn't post anything on Laulim, she brings every student down if you get a questions wrong. I am a fluent speaker and she was even unclear for me. She struggles to explain in english since she is a native speaker.

Very friendly and helpful teacher. She can be a little strict on kanji grading, but she is a teacher of Japanese calligraphy also, so... Very enjoyable class, I learned a lot and had fun while doing it. The textbook is absolutely mandatory, you usually learn from it and then you review in class.

Ogasawara is DA BOMB DOT COM!!!! Shes hoenstly the best japanese teacher I've ever had. She comes into class like "konchiwaaaaaaa" and gets straight to learning :) She doesn't give too much homework, as long as you understand Japanese you should be good, as the entire class is conducted in Japanese. Mention that you love cats if you can.

I got to say that Ogasawara sensei is such an awesome teacher. I really loved her class, especially because she was interactive and helped you through if you didn't understand how to answer her. She is fair on grading, so how you perform is what you get. I would definitely recommend her!

The nicest, most caring, most hilarious teacher I've had. Loves kanji, requires you to bring several books, but is an overall easy grader. My absolute favorite teacher!!

Super awesome teacher. She picks favorites to call during class. Makes you feel really bad when you make a mistake when she calls on you. Over all she allowed late work. Made class interesting. Attendance was mandatory but accepted up to 3 unexcused absences. Had one major ppt presentation at the end of the semester but over all a fairly easy class

You must take her! I haven't taken a Japanese class in six months so I was worried I was going to fail going back into class. But she is really nice; she reviewed some grammar/particles to help me be prepared. Though I still struggled in class, she was very patient and helped me a lot; whether its for preparing for an oral exam or exams. Take her!

This is by far, the best Japanese teacher at UH. She makes class fun, she provides many opportunities to boost your grade, and also holds extra study sessions to make sure her students know the material. If you're looking to take 301 or above, make sure you get her as your teacher.

Comment:

Ogasawara sensei is really easy, funny and lively. The only downside to her class is, it's kinda boring, she drills a lot and she tends to get off topic sometimes. If you want an easy class, take hers, seriously. I'm learning somewhat, but I'm just slacking off for the most part and still passing with a B.

She drills often and they help you to remember the vocabulary and grammar. It's a lot of self teaching and memorization but nothing unreasonable. She's one of the best and nicest senseis.
