Super easy class! She cares about her students and wants them to do well. Basically an automatic A for every quiz. Only 3 tests! Class is very slow-paced and you will never get behind. The reviews have everything that will be on the tests.

Comment:

Prof. Vernia is a great professor. I took it over the summer so it was pretty intense. There are a lot of quizzes (you work in groups). Homework isn't collected or graded, but if you don't do it you will fall behind. Aside from quizzes, the only other grades are 4 exams with the last one being cumulative. Wish there was more things to be graded on.

People like her because she doesn't really test you on what you need to know, so it's an easy A but she is not a good teacher and rushes through the material. She also shows preference to a group of students who ramble on about random stuff with her a lot, in other words, they don't ever stop talking, not even during a quiz. Wouldn't retake her.

Professor Vernia is by far my favorite Professor yet. Her notes were very clear and the test were just like the study guides. She prepares you well and will almost always do before test reviews outside of class and they are super helpful! Great Professor and very understanding!

She's OK - I know why students like her because she is relatively easy but as another student said, her reviews are just like the test and so you think you know stuff but you really don't. I'm having a hard time in M120 because I really didn't learn what I need in M119. I got an A in Mildred's class and am struggling to get a C in M120-don't take

Mildred was wonderful for Calculus. I felt like she really wanted her students to succeed, and worked hard to make sure we did. I feel like the amount of work was appropriate and really set me up to do well on the tests. Her practice tests are almost identical to the actual test, so my test scores were all very good. I highly recommend her.

Professor Vernia is great at explaining statistical concepts and gives a lot of examples that clarifies the material. Daily quizzes help in learning the material in a non-stressful setting since she walks around and helps you with the quiz and lets you work with other students. If you can do her study guides, you'll pass the test.

She doesn't give a lot of free points or curve, so you have to really study, but she will do what ever it takes to help you. She wants you to succeed and goes the extra step to make sure people are understanding the material. Our class had people who got near a 100% in the class and people who failed and dropped out. In the end it's up to you.

I'm a criminology & criminal justice major, thought j was done with math forever and was blind-sighted with this I am terrible at math. But she puts her own notes online that make math "readable", I could actually read them at home and learn it. You also have quizzes almost everyday & they help out a lot when you destroy a test! take her!

I read the other responses before I took her-yeah, she's easy but guess what? if you ever need to use this stuff again, you really haven't learned anything. You can't learn math if you do group tests, you don't learn anything if the reviews are exactly like the tests.. I got an A in her class but can't even get through M120 cause I didn't learn

Vernia m114 hybrid class is fantastic. Well, it's math so that might be over selling it. But, for those who don't like math she does a great job with this class. Once a week classes, mymathlab. Cumulative test(duh, math). Over all it's a great alternative approach to math. Take if don't like math!
