He is so BORING! I have never fallen asleep in class, but I could have in his. He sits at his desk 98% of the time and just talks the whole time. Wears the same things over and over which look dirty and gross. His only notes are his study guides and I ended up reading the book for entertainment in class because he doesn't use it at all.

NEVER take him. Does not use the book, and hard to follow for notes. Only give two test all semester. Will not let you leave the class for any reason.

Good professor. I found his study guides tremendously helpful. I never read the book, until I looked up some additional information on the study guide. He lectures for the entire class period. Very little to no discussion. If you take notes and listen, you'll do well. Tests are straight from his lectures. Easy tests.

Overall an easy class if you go to class, are respectful and attentive and take decent notes. Use the book only for stuff he lectures on... pretty pointless to read everything. Just highlight the study sheet terms in your notes and study a couple hours before each test. Nice, smart prof, but you will have to work to stay awake and focused.

Yes, he is often very boring in his lectures. His tests consist of a few multiple choice, then you're given a list of words/topics and you must write a paragraph or so on 10. He gives you a study guide, but rarely are the wrords on the written part even on the guide, so take notes - even when he can be hard to follow. Never used book.

he's REALLY boring so be prepared to fall asleep on a daily basis...you will NEVER use the textbook so seriously don't even bother wasting your money on one like i did..just take lots of notes from his longgg lectures & study exactly what he said in class..tests are pretty hard, i'm an A+ student & i barely made an 80! drop him if you can!

Really nice if you are respectful to him, though the class is boring. Make sure you take good notes. He doesn't really follow the book. Only had 3 tests; I got a C. I have him again next sem for Western Civ.

WOW! HOW INSANELY BORING THIS MAN IS! He repeats himself constantly and is always off topic. You NEVER know what will be on his tests, and at the most it is a class to get a solid B or C in. Very harsh on attendance. RETIRE ALREADY

Dr. Richards is nice enough; although he's pretty boring. There's no real discussion (probably b/c it thows him off of his routine), and his a bit boring. He knows his History and talks about historical figures as if they are "old friends" of his. His tests are based from his notes; I didn't open my book once & made a B.

Very boring but he can not help that the subject itself is boring. He is a really nice man and knows his material. He is very smart but incredibly boring. If you go to class and take good notes you can easily make a B or better.

Personally I think he is past his time, repeats himself two or three times on subjects, does not follow his syllabus, and does not cover all he states he will cover. Hopefully he will not be teaching students much longer. Always late for class.
