Lovely man, but have to say his teaching is pretty woeful- fails to explain the simplest of concepts and regularly fails to pick up on queues that the class is simply not getting what he is trying to teach.

I really recommend this class for people who want to learn more about recent cartographic development and Internet mapping skills in web-based maps. Dr. Ming is a great professor, and at the end of the class, you will be able to create your own website that includes dynamic and interactive maps, animation, and 3D visualization.

I like Professor Tsou's class. He does not only teach us the foundation knowledge about the Internet but also many technical stuff such as leaflet.

He's a very nice prof but isn't very clear in anything (directions, lectures, projects, grading, etc). Didn't need the textbook. Answers to all of the exam questions can be found in his lectures online. Gives study guides that have everything you need to know for the exam and goes over it with you in class. Know the written responses word for word

Dr. Ming Tsou was helpful. He's very passionate about GIS! Easy class if you do all the assignements and study for the tests (he gives you the questions one week before).

Comment:
Ming-Hsiang Tsou is difficult to understand and does not provide useful information expected from an introduction to GIS. If you keep up with the online labs/homework and test guides you have a possibility of getting a decent grade in the class. If you are interested in learning relevant skills to creating digital maps, do not take his class.

He seems to be a really nice guy but not a great teacher. You don't need to read or go to class. Just go the week before the midterm and final for the study guide and memorize it because it's literally the test. Not hard... just boring!

Powerpoint lectures. Buy the notes from the book store and fill in the blanks as he goes over them in lecture. Write down his verbal examples of things as they can be used on the midterm and final. Gives study guides for both with the exact questions. Short answer type ?s because he expects word for word answers. Don't buy/rent the book!

BASICALLY you don't need to attend class, or read the text book. Discussion boards and labs can be confusing, but they're not bad. The biggest difficulty is his accent.

Tons of Powerpoint so if those kinds of lectures put you to sleep, stay away. He is a very hard grader. He seems to take off points for everything! He gives you a study guide for the exam which has everything that will be on it. One midterm and one final. That makes up for the hard grading though makes it almost impossible to get an A.

If you are not good at math but need to fill your GE requirement, TAKE THIS CLASS! He gives you a study guide for the midterm and final which makes this class pretty easy to get an A in. Its hard to understand him but it is not mandatory to attend the lectures so it really does not even matter!

Nice guy but he manages to make the easiest concepts confusing. Labs are more similar to a pre-school exercise compared to a college course. Borrrrring, it was so uninteresting to me that I lost interest in the subject quickly

Somewhat easy class. Labs are confusing and filled with mistakes but the T.A. was very helpful. It takes a long time to get assignments and exams graded. Took a full month to get the first mid-term back and looks like three weeks to get the final graded..would be more but luckily there is a grading deadline. Feel like I didn't learn a whole lot.

Had Ming for both 104 and 381. Great teacher. Has an accent but 95% of the time you can understand him. Gives out the exact test one week prior to study from. Exercises are pretty easy to do also. Great Class and Great Teacher.

Real nice guy, very funny personality, just slightly hard to understand because of his strong accent. Real focuses on students learning material, and gives copies of the exact tests to study off of prior to the test itself

Computer labs are a breeze, lectures are a snore. GIVES YOU THE EXAMS A WEEK BEFORE TO STUDY WITH! Which means that they are kinda tough, buff computer lab projects should only help your grade. Very helpful.

Lectures are pretty boreing and in broken english. He reads his lecture notes posted online in class so there really isn't any need to attend. His internet connection is always faulty and a 1/4 of the class perioid he is trying to fix it. (Kinda entertaining I guess...) Online excercises are long, easy, and a complete waste of time. Bring a pillow.

I think he's smart..And the subject is pretty interesting...If only I can understand a word he's saying, things would be a lot less confusing..
