Comment:

She was very sweet and enthusiastic but she doesn't know how to manage her time and how to use technology. She gives more homework compared to other teachers. She was irresponsible, she forgot to do quizes or marked you absent even if you were in class. Overall, she was very caring but irresponsible.

What I like: clear expectations of hmw, lectures about chinese culture and travel, Prof is kind, What I didn't like: always goes over time I've been 20 minutes late to my following class regularly, marking is highly subjective and not explained, the most rigorous weekly work out of 40 marks counts for a total 0.5% while the midterm was 30%

She uses singing as a teaching tool in beginner Chinese. Pretty counterproductive for practicing a tonal language for the first time. There is an insane amount of work per time. However, I am still grasping concepts pretty well, so maybe that amount of work is needed...

Very specific about how she wants you to structure your Chinese sentences. Sentences can have the same meaning, but if it's not the same as the way she wants you to write it, you could get marks deducted. Not very good at explaining. Dismisses class late. Won't answer your personal questions until after class even if she's not busy.

She is very sweet and very helpful. Be prepared for a lot of work in this class, especially with a full course load. We already take Chinese 4 times a week and we still have to go to her office to complete assignments.

Given that she is a hard working and nice teacher, she does not budget her time well at all. She constantly goes over time, and expects her student to go into her OFFICE HOURS for tests and text readings weekly when those can simply be done in class, given that we take Chin for 4 hours a week.

Amazing teacher! I have had her for 101, 103, 105, and 107 coming up. She cares so much about her students' learning and is willing to put in a lot of office hours to make sure everyone can succeed. She event helps her students prepare for signing and speech contests that the embassy puts on. I feel lucky to have been in her class, she is amazing!

This teacher is awesome!!!! She is very polite and funny and expects hard work from the students. Her class is fun and she is always there for you if you have any doubts. She also likes to plan activites off campus whin can be very vey fun. She is a little distracted sometimes, if she has ur email address be ready cuz she sends a looooot of mails.

Shes the most helpful professor ive had so far. Class is fun and intensive. take this teacher if you really want to learn chinese, you'll learn the difficult language fast! shes always willing to provide time for you outside of her office hours. she absolutely THE BEST!

Mingzhu is one of the most inspirational instructors I've ever had at UBC. She clearly cares a lot about both the material and the students, and her enthusiasm is so apparent it's contagious. She's a bit easygoing with pronounciation, but is always available to help you if you request it. Mingzhu is great!

I don't really understand previous ratings. She was the nicest professor ever. Everything was pretty fair and she is a very nice lady. She gave us tea everyday for god's sake! Most people in my class got 80%+, so it's definitely possible to get a good mark.
