Worst professor I've ever had. Gives you 300 pages of textbook to memorize for long answer questions that require minute detail and makes no sense in class.

A midterm on the last of class (which is not even allowed??), tells you not to focus on the details but then tells you to read and memorize 100s of pages of the textbook to pass, w DETAILED long-answer exams. Final is take-home and relatively easy to do well in. Never went to lecture, since the lectures weren't testable and impossible to understand

This is a very interesting and relatively easy class. Make sure you put in the work for each project ahead of time and participate in the presentation discussions. Dr. Grbic wants you to enjoy the course and show some desire to learn and see the bigger picture of genetics.

He likes to hear himself talk. Get used to hearing about the spider mite. He repeats his stories too often. Doesn't particularly care about what students think/feel/want. Makes you buy a $50-70 poster for a project then doesn't collect it. Avoid this class.

I thought I was in for a rough time, but it turned out great. He wants you to understand what's going on, not memorize a ton of stuff you'll forget 5 minutes after the exam. He's a cool prof, helpful when you're confused.
