She can be quite hard to understand, however if you're paying attention it isn't too hard to follow. Honestly, I skipped most of the screenings and just did (some) readings and went to lectures and I got an A+

I dropped the class just first day of the class. Her accent is one of worst prof accent in the Carleton, how she can be a prof . Otherwise, she does not prepare the class and all the time she is asking questions(when is the mid-term exam, what is the percentage of the specific exam exc.) about her class in the class time which is so weird.

Great prof, yes her accent is thick but I had no problem understanding her. If you are passionate about film and actually want to learn the material then you won't either. Very personable as well, it seems like she really cares about her students.

Prof needs to be removed from the school. Yes that bad. If you can avoid taking a course with this Prof, you should, hands down. She is hard to understand. She only reads from her slides and WILL NOT post slides on WebCT. (Except when the class complains A LOT every now and again)Many readings. Decent consultations. Strange sense of humour. Hard class but it is still possible to get a decent mark since tests are quite fair.

One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Half of the time I cannot understand her. She tells you questions will not be on the exam and then they are. She stares blankly at you when you go to her office as if shes a 4 year old. She is terrible.

Her accent didn't bother me, but I know it drove some of my friends up the wall. Lectures were straight out of the readings, but useful insofar as telling you what to focus on. Easy quizzes/exams, and easy papers. Doesn't have much flare for film though, and be prepared for a lot of nigh-unwatchable experimental film at the outset of the course.

she's kind and seems to have a genuine interest in the subject and is helpful outside of class. Lectures are just straight quotes from the readings somehow with spelling and grammar mistakes. The accent is difficult to get past. First day of class she told us she no longer enjoys watching films and that we won't either if we continue.

To the person who said she simply stares blankly at you or ignores you when you ask questions, you're right. Her lectures are horrendous - we go from a great first year with thorough lectures from Andre Loiselle and straight into communication disaster with Wada-Marciano. And it's not the material either as readings and TA sessions are great.

WORST film prof. I have ever had. If you can take 2000 with a different teacher do it. her test are impossible and she is horrible at giving lectures. Anyone who thinks she is a good prof. has something wrong with them.

Listen all the people who put down good stuff obviously are the 2% who are geeks. The reality is this lady should NOT be a teacher. Her test are so insane as well they have questions about information she never even talks about in class. If it can be avoided DO NOT take her class. watch out for her in Film 2000 as well. Sketchy

Definitely needs to have her TA proof-read her tests. They are full of ambiguous questions (esp. in multi-choice, which seems impossible to me). She was ok with addressing the problems, but was too generous with some poor students, cheapening the marks earned by the best workers. You MUST know the readings intimately.

Worst professor I've ever had. Unclear with course material--lectures are summaries of readings, but done very poorly--countless spelling mistakes. Very unhelpful. Tests are unfair and cover material that is insignificant to the course. Very difficult to understand. Overall, should not be a professor.

Tests are difficult, but fair. Sometimes the questions have ambiguities because of language difficulties, but she is willing to discuss (and change) grades if you are diplomatic and show an understanding of the material. That said, it should be obvious that she is helpful outside of class. She teaches a bit too directly from the readings though.

She is a very smart professor and made this class very interesting, the accent is a little hard to follow sometimes, but once you get used to it shes great. Very helpful outside of class, the readings are essential in this class. She was also surprisingly funny, overall she was a good prof

Great choices of films, fairly easy assignments (no essay!) and she really knows her stuff, but her lecture style leaves quite a bit to be desired. Still, though, the class is well worth taking.
