Comment:
The only really bad professor I have had at McGill. Most of the class is wasted with her staring at her slides figuring out what she wants to say about them and not being able to articulate it. She seems like a knowledgeable scientist who is NOT cut out for teaching. My main tip would be to read the textbook and study from her slides.

Good teacher but only once you've understood the material. Best way to study for this class is to do the corresponding readings & take notes,& simply review them a couple times for the midterm. Midterm wasn't hard at all;no specific questions, broad. Don't depend on her to learn the material, but rather as a revision class of what u already learned

She is the worst prof I have had! Her lectures don't make any sense, and most of the time is spent fielding questions from students. There are people audibly saying "What?" in her lectures! Textbook is not mandatory to read, but it kind of is bc you won't know what she is talking about

She is a very interesting and knowledgeable prof., she may not be the best at explaining but one-on-one she is very helpful. She is really excited about what she researches and happy to share and help you understand better.

Zetka is definitely the worst professor I've ever had in my life. She comes to class seemingly high usually or at least seems like she's talking to spirits or something. She is very inaccessible to email. Her test questions are overall extremely confusing. She holds no office hours, and her lectures really have no structure whatsoever. TERRIBLE

Terrible prof. Lecture slides are just excerpts from the textbook, and she just parrots them word for word. Can't answer even basic questions. Midterm was very specific, and taking very detailed notes from the textbook and it's diagrams is mandatory. Study hard and you'll be fine, but don't bother with her lectures because they aren't useful.

Zetka is ok. Definitely not the best, but not the worst either. Her lectures were disorganized and she jumps between points frequently. but listening to her lectures and writing everything she says down (even if it takes 3+ hours) is worth it. Her midterm was easier than the other section. I would choose the afternoon section again over the morning

You can tell she's brilliant and passionate about what she does, however she's vague and hard to follow. Her questions on quizzes and the midterm/final are confusing/ambiguous. Takes long pauses during lectures and manages to avoid answering all questions asked with an explanation of an unrelated topic. Make use of the textbook.

Comment:
I took BIOL 200 with her and Hastings - her half was painful, I stopped going to class and bought NTCs. Her midterm questions were either easy or unnecessarily detailed, so it kind of averages out. Her final questions were decent. Avoid if you can. If you can't - don't be too worried, esp. if you did Bio 2 in cegep, the content is easy, just a lot.

She doesn't know how to speak well. when she talks she barely opens her mouth so its hard for her to sound out words making it impossible to understand what shes saying. the lecture recordings take forever to relisten to because you have to replay every sentence a few times to have any idea what shes saying

Not very good at explaining - unclear language and difficult to follow. To be fair, there is a lot of course material to get through and the material isn't that easy (BIOL 200), but there are much better profs. Make use of lecture recordings to decipher what she is saying, textbook and NTCs.

Comment:
The lectures were generally confusing, a clear concise lecture was more of a rarity. Questions were many times acknowledged but not answered. No practice exams/questions were given prior to test. The test was majority side topics and hypothetical situations rather than the main topics, so reading the textbook with your notes is a must.

She knows her stuff but it can be super hard to follow her explanation during lectures .. so MAKE SURE TO GO TO TA CONFERENCE SESSIONS AFTER LECTURES! She also gives off this cold persona so it may be hard to approach her for clarifications..
