Extremely difficult. Brutal comments. Commented " You write like you are in the second grade, F-" on my paper. After everything, I realized she was right. I went from a poor writer to functional. A good teacher, but not for everyone.

At first I was going to say RUN AWAY! Out of 25 students we dropped down to 4. But I am very serious about improving my style, and I found her comments very helpful in clarifying my writing (after the whiplash died down that is!) She can be confusing though, but try your best and ask questions. If you aren't looking for criticism... don't take her.

Comment:

Completely unhelpful, tries to make you write the same poem she would write. I give her credit, I messed with her bad, wrote in rhyme when she had forbidden it, completely rewrote every poem with no reference to her comments or the previous version, soaked my final project in mud and ran it over,and she still gave me an A. Not many were as lucky.

She gives unclear directions and often contradicts herself. Examples of "good" poetry sound like her own writting and usually breaks the rules she enforces upon her students. Says that everything students write is cliche and worthless. Handwritten comments on assignments are illegible and rarely contain usefull feedback. Never responds to email.

Way too much was expected for a 100 level class. Kept changing the syllabus and assignments, sometimes cancelling ones that we already worked on. Even when consulting 1 on 1 for papers, it was very difficult to tell what exactly it was that she wanted. It's true that she's a good person under her tough front, but i do not recommend her as a tea

Morgan is the most inspirational writer and professor I have ever taken. Yeah she'll bite your head off, over and over again, but if you're good, and you're passionate about writing you'll find her critique to be some of the most important constructive criticism you'll ever get.

My first paper came back with corrections in red ink. Everything was scratched out except two words, 'the' and 'a'. It was an ENG 100 class for crying out loud!! Dropped her class and transferred to someone else who was MUCH better at teaching a 100-level course. Glad I only needed one English course for my major.

one of the most inspirational professors ive ever had. her bark is worse than her bite. my take on morgan is, if you can't handle her comments, you'll never make it in the writer's world. she's nowhere near as harsh as some of those editors out there. what you think is hell is just the beginning steps. if you truly listen to what she discusses in her lectures and take it to heart, you'd learn a lot more than you'd imagine. she's got better intentions than people give her credit for and you won't forget her.

A horrible teacher. Destroyes self confidence and even if you work extremely hard you can still fail. Alot of people DO fail. Avoid at all costs. Save yourself the misery.

Probably the most difficult English class I have ever taken. She really challenges you to improve your writing and will hold you to an incredibly high standard. Of course, it's for the best. Who wants to be a crappy writer? Highly recommended.

All she ever did in class was yell at us and criticize us by saying things like, This is all crap. Our papers would be returned with everything scribbled out and unhelpful comments scrawled out in chicken scratch.
