I took this class with the Dr. who wrote the book. Most people drop their majors because of the requirement of research. However, if one does not learn it the old way before they rely on the computerized version it will be even harder in grad school. In the real world, if one can not read between the lines, one will execute blindly. Not good!

Nice guy, but not the best teacher. Always let class out waayy too early. Didn't learn anything, had to get most of the teaching from the book after class. Tests and quizzes were always open book, and he gives a ton of opportunities to make up tests. So-so class.

worst class ever! it was easy in the end but he is pretty disorganized, the TA was no help b/c he didnt even know what we were doing in class. if i had to take this class again i would only show up for tests or get a friend and you can switch off going.

horrible class but had to take it for psych major. the guy has no idea what he's talking about, and he blatently hates teaching the class. the book is a necessity for exams. dont bother asking for help, you're pretty much on your own with him. he scales immensely though

Dr. Elfenbein is a GREAT professor. He is very knowledgeable on the subject matter. I had him for stats and methods and received an A in both classes. Be prepared to invest some time into his classes and you will get an A.

If you're willing to put time and effort in, this class really isn't as bad as people perceive it. Attendance is not mandatory but is essential to keep up and do well. Quizzes are given before exams and if you do well, don't have to take the exam for that section. Few homework problems are given each class and you should do them, definitely helps!

Very nice and wants everyone to get a good grade. He doesn't lecture on the test material, but you're responsible for material in the chapters that he didn't discuss. He gives extra credit and you're almost guaranteed an A on the presentations as long as it looks like you put a lot of effort. Some people struggled, but I think it was an easy class.

Had him for social psych. He almost never gives a lecture, and the "quizzes" are about 20 multiple choice and then essay questions.. so its really a test, not a quiz. He goes over pretty much nothing that is on the test. He lectures on nothing and tests on everything.

I liked him. He goes over the material as much as you ask him to. He gives 2 tests in the semester, but you have 3 attempts to pass each test and you can use your notes. He is very nice and he tries to make the class pleasant and he lets you out really early every class. take him!

may have been one of the easiest classes I've taken at college, just go to class and do the assignments and I don't see how you could possibly do badly, he encourages students to ask questions in class and answers them until I was satisfied with the answer. no worries :)

He is a really nice professor and is reasonable, fair and helpful, but he is not very clear with his teaching. He is usually willing to meet you half way if you need him to. It is ok to take one of his classes if you don't mind really putting in a lot of work and time.

If you want to really learn how to do research and develop a quality paper take his class. I went to U-Mass years ago and now have a doctorate in Psychology and I have to say I learned a great deal from Dr. Elfenbein that helped me do my doctoral research.

It's ridiculous that the dumb kids who take other professors for PSY210 can come out with A's while smart kids take this class and come out with C's. Gives real credibility to the Psych department. Take this class if you want your GPA to get brutally raped.

If you want to slide through this class and don't care about learning anything, don't take this prof. He is so smart and it is clear that he knows his stuff. But do not take him if you are a slack off...he is a true University professor...not a know nothing tenured prof. If you are a whiner........take someone else but if youcare about your educ
