I really wanted to like this class, but the expectations were unclear from the first lecture. The walks varied by which TA or professor was giving them, it was so hard to know what to study. This could be a great class if the logistics and expectations were made more apparent. I'm not a humanities major, and some people had the time of their lives

Took the architecture core class and absolutely loved it. It's a dense once a week class but very interesting and changed the way I look at NYC. She says it a million times but you really do need to go to class and take notes. There are a few papers (easy A's) and a midterm and a final.

Mosette is a great professor. She is so knowledgable and her class is very open to participation. She does not give homework and lectures are very important. Class is very engaging since she is lively and the lectures are very applicable outside of class. She also tries to make assignments as easy as possible and wants all students to get an A.

It'll be hard to get an A if you don't attend lectures. She literally talks for 75 minutes straight, and doesn't like laptops so get ready to take notes by hand. Assigns articles to read, which will be the focus of the midterm. Pay attention to little facts that seems unimportant (they are).

Topics discussed in class might be a little challenging if you are unfamiliar with NYC or its history of urban development, but as long as you put effort into researching and go through all the announcement articles, the class would be extremely rewarding.

Comment:
Professor Broderick's lectures are as entertaining as hollywood movies. She is also very sympathetic, approachable, and reasonable. My one complaint is that she is very euro-centric - it would have been cool to learn about cities in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East but we barely discussed them - only talked about Europe and America.

Really into all her lectures! Wealth of knowledge and funny. Tests and papers are hard as there is not much guidance unless you ask for it. Not the easiest grader, but definitely wants the best for all her students. loved this class.

I took her for Arch of NY. She was such a fabulous professor, with so much knowledge in her field. The exams require a fair bit of effort. But she was so clear, and pleasant, and the TAs were equally helpful. This class made me value a liberal arts education.

Professor Broderick was my favorite professor while at NYU. It's true that the course is a lot of memorization and it's not an easy A, but her stories were fascinating and it was so much fun to learn more while exploring the city. Take this class if you want a great experience, and definitely walk around in Professor Broderick's group.

I absolutely love this professor. She knows her topics inside and out and loves when students have an issue that they want to talk about. Expects a lot but is willing to give second chances and extra help. Will get off topic but I learned just as much from her tangents. Really funny wit and lecturing style. Can't say enough good things about her!!!

I could not have ever hoped for a more helpful or kind professor. Deeply cares for her students and somehow seems to know everyone personally. She is a very engaging lecturer and knows everything about her subject. Not terribly difficult if you are in class regularly. LOVE THIS WOMAN.

the professor broderick and her t.a.'s are great, but architecture of NY: a field study is ridiculous. It's pure memorization of 60 buildings per exam only to be tested on 8. Don't take it as an easy A MAP course

Prof Broderick is one of the most fascinating intellectuals I have ever had the privilege of learning from. She can get side-tracked easily so it takes some getting used to. Yes she expects a lot from her students but wants nothing more than for them to succeed and will try to accommodate them as much as she can

WONDERFUL teacher. The sweetest and most caring professor I have ever had. She takes the time to make you understand and will work with you one-on-one until you do. Respectful, understanding, hard-working, and caring. She has even helped with job searching. I will try to take her Field Study course next semester. Hands down best professor at NYU

Genuinely nice and interested in how students are doing. Very passionate and knowledgeable. I'm a politics student and even I didn't dread this weekly Friday afternoon MAP class. TAs are very approachable and competent. Best of all--they grade exams and papers in a timely fashion. Exams take getting used to. But consider improvement for final grade

Most unreasonable professor I have EVER had. First day of class, asked to take the midterm early bc of a conflict. She said sure, then when the time came, tried to refuse to let me take it at all. Had to take it to dean; she let me take it with the final. Then "lost" my final paper, blamed it on me, and tried to fail me. Delusional and a liar.

She is a great professor, BUT sometimes she rambles on and on and it is very hard to keep up with what she is talking about. Also, the entire class grade is based on one essay, the mid-term, and the final, so if you screw up one of those you're screwed.

EXTREMELY helpful to the students. She can drag on and on about a topic sometimes, but she has a point even in that blabbering. I had absoluetly no interest in this topic until I took her class, and her passion and the willingness to help her students out led me to major in Urban Design. DEF take her class! One of the better profs at NYU!

Awesome professor! Obviously passionate about the topic, and very open to hearing student concerns, questions, and ideas. Very helpful and loves creative thinking. You HAVE to pay attention and work in her class, but it's worth it. You won't be bored.
