I am minoring in philosophy, and this guy is probably the worst prof Ive ever had in the philosophy department. No concern for comprehensive language. Insufferable know it all. Clearly just likes to hear himself talk. My deepest sympathys for anyone that has this prof, and more so if you actually like him.

Mr. Miles does indeed know his stuff. I would like to remind other raters and readers on this site that philosophy is NOT easy. To know the same amount of philosophic information as Mr. Miles, and to have the ability to clearly explain concepts and principles is not a feat everyone can obtain. Mr. Miles is a great prof, and teaches tough classes.

It's quite obvious that he knows what he's talking about. However, he fails to recognize the fact that no one else does. His comments, and corrections to other students are plain arrogant. He has a sense of grandiosity that he some how feels he deserves. Absolutely atrocious teaching style. Couldn't teach metaphysics to anyone other than himself.

Great Professor. It is obvious that he knows what he is talking about, and he is very passionate about it. Sometimes hard to follow but he encourages asking questions. He is a fair marker, and you will get out what you put in.

Make no mistake, this professor's a smart guy, but it's no surprise that students often find him confusing, hard to pay attention to, and somewhat aloof. He knows what he's talking about, but the way he explains the material nobody else does. If you ask me he needs to loosen up a little bit, can't he ever turn off the intellectual-speak?

Prof. Miles' lecturing style is systematic and lucid. His knowledge of Kant, Descartes, and Greek philosophy is comprehensive (most notably as concerns Kant and Descartes), and he displays a keen ability to illuminate their systems. A rarity: a professor actually enthusiatic about teaching.
