I took this class as my first ever experience working in 3D. Graf made it such a fun experience! He is nice, but constructive in critiques. He is the type to only teach you a specific skill if you ask him, but that is useful in the long-run. Very loose criteria on projects, so you can really be creative and make the art you want to make.

He gives great crits, but grades hard. Notices when you work hard outside of class and remarks upon it. Has crazy music taste, but honestly I'm down with his playlists. Just follow instructions and listen to his feedback and you should be fine.

He was a very good professor but if you like making your art YOUR way, watch out- He sometimes isn't very open to styles he doesn't like.

Graf is an awesome prof he makes the class so much fun. His projects are easy, we only had four the whole semester. You have to be interested in the class or you won't pass. You'll get an easy A if you show up to class and interact with him.

George Grad provided great crits and wasn't easy! He taught us a lot about design and how to be a better artist. He helped me get into the Communication Design program and has been a friend throughout school. Thanks Graf!

Prof Graf is seriously one of the best prof. I have had at KU, I took his class for 3D Design and Intro to Crafts. He cares about his students and he is interested in seeing everyone learn. But you have to WORK HARD! Attend class! Ask questions! Be interested! He can tell if you're not taking the class seriously and it WILL reflect in your grade.

Interesting guy. Projects are fun and cool, but he doesn't explain them very well. If you ask him for help he'll tell you to do something and then take points off when you hand it in for whatever change he told you to make. Really like the guy as a person, but the class was really tough to get through.

I loved this class! Prof Graf is very laid back; you just go to class and have 3 hours to work on your project. I was very nervous to take 3D but I ended up loving it! You will learn a lot in this class. He is willing to help but he is very vague about what he wants from you. He loves to talk. Also, the bigger your project, the better your grade.

He seems like a nice guy but I keep getting lousy grades and I ask for his advice and follow it but he turns around and says I shouldnt have done that. I dont think he is very clear on what he is looking for in the projects and considers everything naive unless its something silly like he makes.

Professor Graf is an interesting guy. I went into the class scared for massive projects but I got through it just fine. I came to the conclusion though that needing to stay the full three hours wasn't productive when I banged out the projects in my dorm or at home. He always gave me B+ amd only one low A. He's tough and teaches little.

Really chill nice guy. He'll talk forever if you get him going. He likes to talk to you about your project while your working but I noticed that whenever he gave me suggestions, when it came to critique time he'd say the opposite so after the second project I just did my own thing. Great teacher overall, fun chill class.

The projects are fairly easy. He pushes the dealing back as needed, so at the end you often end up having to do one less project than he said you had to. It's a little hard to get his attention sometimes, but when you do, he will talk forever.

Graf likes to look at a piece of art and just understand it at a glance. he is all about composition, but if you ask for his advice it's usually 'what do you think is best.' I had a project that he liked when i worked on it, but when it came to grading time he said the opposite. If you go to class and he knows you work hard, he'll raise your grade

He's a 70's Child at heart, real layed back, BUT GO TO CLASS or you're screwed... oh.. the larger the piece you make the better the grade. Also make most of your pieces topheavy

HE is definitely chill, BUT, all he does is look at your project and within 30 seconds he grades it. about 90% of his grades given out were 88%. Plus he will tell you to do something, then when the critique comes around, he rips your project apart with "WHY DID YOU DO THAT" "IT DOESN"T WORK." and it was exactly what you told him to do. GR on him.

Chill is definitely the word. He is always willing to help you if you ask as long as you're making an effort. He is also flexible with deadlines, understanding, and a fair grader. He expects a lot from you, but helps you make good art... he's a cool dude that you can learn a lot from, about art AND life. take him if you can

Comment:
Graf is a great character-funny,down to earth, patient. However, the class itself is very much about tedious, mindless and sometimes trite busywork.Graf has a very traditional approach to craft and is not all that openminded about someone stepping outside the very narrow approach to a problem. Not a productive atmosphere, not serious about being artists
