I'm an English major and I think Prof Namphy is the nicest teacher I've at RU. But his teaching leaves something to be desired, the class is close to being completely devoid of any insight, so it's not surprising RU is not asking him back

Rutgers sucks for letting this guy go... what the heck they were smoking when they made that decision is beyond me. If you're reading this US ENGLISH MAJORS WILL MISS YOU and your music... minus Dolly Parton.

Hands down...one of the best professor at RU. A brillant man that personally encouraged my intellectual growth. I'm very upset that he may be leaving, but I am a different student because he was here.

He's a pompous ass, who thinks he knows a lot, but only knows small amounts of info about lots of things. Likes to talk about himself alot and plays music which has no pertinance to the class.

Absolutely the best professor I have ever had. Rutgers should strive to find teachers like this, he gives the English department and edge over any other. This man renewed my interest in learning and turned dismay for Rutgers professors.

Comment:
Highly overrated. Students who strive for mediocrity will love him, students who want their mind expanded, won't. His 'comments' on papers are vague observations that are repeated paper to paper and student to student.

Hands-down one of the best teachers I've had in my lifetime! Begins and ends every class w/ music related to discussion. Discussions are amazing, enthralling. Teaches you how to write! Funny, nice, intelligent, approachable, v. helpful. Learned a lot!

starts every class with music & relates it to the theme of the lecture. focuses on more 1800s-era lit. a lot of reading, discussion, and writing, but a lot of fun and very friendly.
