The materials are easy but she is the one who made it sound hard. In the lab she just throws things at you and sometimes expects you to figure it out yourself. Don't ask her question when nobody around, she will make a face at you if you're not clear about something and need more clarification. She made me feel so intimidated.

Nancy is awesome! Attend lecture as she explains things well in class, but not as well on her power points. One easy/short online assignment per week. Tests are all short answer but not bad if you know the stuff. Material is easy in the beginning but gets harder. She is stricter in lab- don't ask stupid questions and keep a DETAILED lab book!

Dr. Elwess is a good professor despite the negative comments people have to say about her below. Her class & tests are very straightforward. It is honestly in the student's hands to utilize all the resources to get an A. She is always there in her office or the genetics lab to answer any questions that you may have. She is a great professor imo.

Beware! This course is extremely easy, yet she made it one of the most difficult courses I've ever taken. She is a terrible teacher and a really tough grader. Whenever I asked questions she acted as if I was bothering her. She gave the wrong answers to a test and then didn't correct it when I brought it up. DO NOT TAKE.

Dr. Elwess is an incredible professor. I had her for both BIO 101 and BIO 305 and she made both courses engaging and exciting. I recently switched into the sciences and she helped me transition and reaffirmed my passion in taking this new path. She is tough and you need to stay on top of assignments. I would take more courses with her if I could.

Nancy is an awesome lab instructor, her lectures however can be a little dry. Overall they are tolerable. I suggest taking labs with either her or Sandra Latourelle. I am currently taking my second lab and class with this instructor and hope to be taking more.

This class will probably be the easiest 300 class you will take. The lab is 50% of your grade, which I love sense you do so much work in there. The test are very easy, and she makes it clear what will be on them. Sometimes her power points are not organized. Though it is easy, I did learn a lot.

Good teacher, very well studied but not the type of teacher a needed students must have. Good power points but out order. Little time and comprehension to understand students problems and issues. At all a good person and great in genetics---thats what she likes most.

She is a beautiful person inside & out. Very clear on what she expects from you, gives you a checklist for the exams that are just reworded for the exam. Best professor I've had at PSU. She's a very intelligent woman and isn't shy to challenge anybody to her intelligence. She's wonderful and I can't wait to take genetics next semester with her too!

I did very well in the class because I put my own effort into it. However, she is not a good teacher at all. I was not challenged in the class, and it a bore. Made me feel I was in high school and not in a 300-level college class. She has accomplished a lot, and believe me, she is not very modest about it.

horrible teacher and person. never take her, take Conrads instead. they are much more challenging but they will prepare you for graduate school and/or future job. if you take elwess you are wasting you time and money. you won't gain any new knowledge and you will end up studying bio101 and genetics on your own later on.

take this class with nancy! she is the best teacher ever. so easy to understand. very interesting with stories, etc. making the class bearable! she gives u study guides for the tests and the bio in the news due each week honestly take ten minutes to do. EASY A CLASS IF U STUDY FOR TESTS!

She is very into herself, but the class is not hard at all. Allpowerpoint are on line, but it is helpful to take notes. News article due once a week, very easy. Tests are not too bad, but deff study! No need to buy book, bc we havent used it once. Also if you have friends in the class you can sign eachother in so ya dont always have to go!
