Don't expect this to be an easy A, but it's not impossible either. Just treat it like a real class, read the book and study for the tests, prepare your speeches ahead of time, and you'll be fine. It also helps to have a good TA--try for Lindsay Wallace, she was awesome.

The material is irrelevant and Wendt is boring. The class needs a drastic reorganization with the lecture being replaced by another recitation section and the tests being replaced by additional speeches. The TAs should teach the entire class; just like the way the writing program is set up at OSU.
