Extremely passionate about chemistry, and will help you understand it very well. The material is hard, but he's such a great teacher that he makes it easy to digest. His stories are fascinating, but the best part is that his class is very manageable and low-stress.

The best chemistry instructor bar-none. I feel like a master of chemistry after taking it with Dr. Bhat. He's simply knows how to convey the material so well that anyone could understand. I would retake his class if it was possible.

I took him got organic chemistry 2. He is has stories for every chapter in the book, which end up being funny. Be prepared to learn different mechanisms, because he is very picky about those.

dont like the way he teaches , its a little messy and disorganized. wish he would put the material for the class in blackboard ahead of time but everything is sent through email. He gives a lot of practice problems and resources so do them, they are very helpful. Goes off topic a lot. Decent professor. Passionate about teaching.

Dr. Bhat cares about his students, but he tends to go off topic sometimes. Do the online hw to help you out. His quizzes are easy if you pay attention in lecture. His tests are a bit tougher, but he curves so that really helps out a lot! Great professor, and can be funny too

Dr. Bhat is the sweetest, funniest and smartest man. His class was incredibly enjoyable for being OChem. I do like chemistry so I might be biased, but he genuinely made it interesting. Cracked jokes in between topics to avoid you getting a headache from the material and gave visual examples to help. Tests are curved. Won't regret taking him!!

Unless you're naturally good in chem, you're going to have to dedicate at least 2-3 hours of studying per chapter. There is a lot of material covered. What helped me was watching videos online. However, Dr. Bhat is aware that it's a challenging course, so he curved each exam which helped me go up an entire letter grade! I would recommend him.

Good professor, the chem department is not the best at UTRGV but he is an exception. He really wants his students to pass and understand the material. Don't expect an easy A but it is doable. I do not have a strong foundation in Chem and I am doing well. He is worth it! take him

Your grade really depends on your relationship with him. Befriend him and he will most likely give you an A or bump you up a letter grade. Be prepared for crude humor, that is borderline sexual harassment. He has a very quick temper, especially when you get questions that he answers wrong. Go to SI sessions if you can. Tests are not easy.

I took class in fall 2012. Class is hard. I think the class should be a 2 semester course because there is so much information. Little information is covered in class. Learning needs to be done outside of class on your own. He jokes a lot in class about examples to remember concepts in class, but few examples to actually get subject.

Class is unbelievably difficult. Worked extremely hard and barely made a D. Outside of one student in the class, it seemed that everyone else struggled eminencely. Asked the student who understood the material for help and he explained it clearer than the professor. As mentioned in prior comment, must be an organic genius.

Very hard class. No step-by-step. Students called to board to solve problems regardless of understanding. Too much material in a short time. Very difficult test with little time. Very broad teaching. Not precise. Professor is funny, but not available 4 help outside class. Success only for those who are org.chem geniuses or had previous teaching.

Dr.Bhat is an amazing man. He essentially teaches his class with many analogies of crude humor. He is a little prejudice as you may have heard, but mostly towards the people who sit in the front of the class, so sit in the class. He makes organic crystal clear, and if you can't learn it with him you can't learn it with anyone. Notes are sufficient

For some reason I had a lot trouble in this class. And honestly I did not learn anything from his class. Many people love his class because he was fun and easy going. But i gotta say he's very prejudice. He only acknowledges the people that do well in the class. And also expects us to know the material. I am just not used to his teaching.

Dr. Bhat is a great professor. You don't need the textbook since he gives you all the notes you need. He explains everything that will be on tests but you will for sure pass the class if you attend SI sessions! It will also help if you take him for both OChem I and II, because you will know his style of teaching.

Anyone who attends the LAC or volunteers during the lecture and answers a question will get extra credit at the end of the class. I received an A in class and I regret not taking OChem1 with him. He is an excellent educator that you will enjoy. Anyone preparing for the MCAT or PCAT, you will not regret being enlightened by his teaching methods!
