Comment:
Dr. Dixon is great. I had him just for lab for PHYS 231. He's an easy grader and doesn't use the entire lab block. Even though he didn't teach lecture, he was always willing to help with lecture homework problems. Although confusing at times, he was always really patience and helped me SO much. Another more patient explanation.

Horrible, horrible professor. I don't know how he thinks that a failing class average is acceptable. He makes things harder than it needs to be and constantly struggles to finish his own examples. I would not recommend taking one of his classes. If you do, good luck.

Very nice and helpful man. Very approachable. He will help you out. Horrible teacher, constantly clearing his throat, alot of homework. All on online system. Homework grades will save you, but you wont know how to do the assignments. Teach yourself, you dont need book just the online system. Also only about 5 tests and homework, and final

Not recommended! He is not good at explaining problems and lots of mistakes which just confuses you more. He is constantly making disgusting noises when he is clearing his throat, be perpared to hear it atleast 10 times a class. His online homework program is so frustrating and annnoying to use.

He knows his stuff but is a bad teacher. Contradicts the textbook in things like how to think about stuff and is very confusing in class b/c he goes in depth where unnecessary and not where necessary. The recitation and lab taught me more than he did.

Lectures are incomprehensible! Exams are tough! You must do all of the homework to have even a slight chance of passing the exams. He goes WAY too fast in lecture and DOES NOT explain things thoroughly! "And so on and so forth" is not an explanation, but be prepared to hear it EVERY CLASS!

Very smart but can't teach to save his life. He makes this horrible hacking noise every 30 seconds. I was on the path to Cum Laude and the D- in PHYS131 and F in PHYS132 killed that dream. Rumor has it that he was not asked to return in the fall.

This class wasn't easy. I thought Dr. Dixon was a good teacher, but his tests were very hard. He was helpful if you saw him after class, and there were group study sessions if you needed them.

Dr. Dixon found successfully found a way to make physics with algebra somewhat difficult. The averages on the first 2 tests were 50% and 43%. Granted he did curve them afterwards, he is still very hard to understand. He flies through lectures and doesnt explain things clearly. I felt lost in every class. Stay away if at all possible.

Alright as a teacher. Tests are way too hard - only 5 questions, but worth 100 points. But he lowers the grade scale so the class average is equal to a C. Can't complain but don't recommend taking physics with him if it can be avoided.

Dixon is alright. He is a bit FAST with those equations! Nice guy for help. The whole class avg'd 43% on exan 2. He added 33% of missing points to that. Don't worry and do your best. MAX out on LAB and Recitation to save your grade.

Everyone told me how wonderful he'd be, but maybe he was burned out from his F&M job by the time he got back to MU. He seemed distant and unwilling to really help. A brilliant man, but somewhat distracted.
