Basically you have 4 assignments in the whole course. 2 papers each worth 10%, 30% for a midterm, and 50% for a final. Barely any work, not too much reading, just write well. Come to lecture for attendance and he is fun to listen to about his travels around the world, Europe, India, Iran, Africa, this man is a great story teller.

Neil is an absolute genius. Loves to teach and pushes you to the limit. Everyone bombs the exams, but he curves it to everyone's advantage, so really, don't stress it. Go to lecture. Go to office hours. READ the text he gives you. You WILL fail otherwise. You can expect his courses to be the most difficult you've ever taken, but it's worth it.

Professor Tennant is very energetic and you can tell that he truly loves teaching symbolic logic. He tends to throw a great deal of material at you and expects you to pick it up immediately, but he is more than willing to help you understand it. He will do all that he can to break things down for you to understand so that you can preform better.

Neil is a world renowned Philosopher... Sometimes the things he says is just out of the league for an intro class so it can be confusing. Easy class though, you only have two papers and two midterms

He's British, between his accent and the stories he told lectures were fairly entertaining. He is specific about attendance, for example a kid got up and walked out of lecture right after signing the attendance sheet going around, and he made a point to stop class to address how rude it was.

Brilliant guy who loves the material. Has a tendency to go off into tangents. The tests (only two, and they're the only grades in the class) are brutal, but he curves heavily. Office Hours are practically mandatory, but are helpful. The textbook (by him and therefore free) rarely gets mentioned, but is important to read if you wanna pass.

As a tenured professor, wants this class to be more than a gen ed credit. The material is hard to wrap your head around no matter how many times you reread the readings. Office hours are mandatory to receive a decent grade. Grades papers extremely slowly. Grade is based on three papers, final is worth 50% of final grade.

He is very intelligent and passionate about his field and I respect that. However, his teaching skills are horrendous. I could never make out exactly what he was trying to say during lecture because he uses unnecessarily big words and goes off on multiple tangents. Papers and midterms take a long time to be graded.

Prof. Tennant is one of the most brilliant people I've ever met, and he's funny. Unfortunately, he's probably the worst professor I've ever had. He goes off into extremely complex tangents during lecture, he doesn't respond to emails, and he isn't good at explaining things simply. But he is willing to try to help during office hours.

He graded hard and sent out an email at the end of the course saying we were dumb and 'generation wuss'. He also said we should look for education outside the US because they clearly don't have standards here.

One of the most intelligent professors I have ever had at OSU. He knows exactly what he is teaching just isn't good at conveying it in large lecture. The midterm and final are extremely hard but there is a hefty curve to the class. Taking 1100 first was useful and he is VERY helpful in office hours

Quite honestly the worst professor I've ever had at OSU. He definitely knows the material, but his presentation is nearly impossible to comprehend, yet he seems surprised when students ask for help. The average for the midterm was somewhere in the F range. He goes off-topic frequently and his TA was stand-offish and unhelpful.

He went on a lot of tangents and whatnot but despite this his lectures were packed with information. He said it himself some days, he has no clue why he is teaching an entry level course but I did enjoy the fact that it wasn't the clichè wishy washy entry level philosophy course people joke about.

This class was impossible to follow and hard to understand. He went on long and seemingly endless tangents that, in the end, had nothing to do with what we were learning. He's an amazingly intelligent man, but not fit for a lower level class. I wouldn't recommend him for low levels, but for high levels he is probably wonderful.

More work than you would expect for a 100 level class. All of his essay questions are from lecture. Have to write 2,000 word papers.

im in his philosophy 101 class and he treats it like it isn't an intro level course. our first assignment is an 8 page paper. this isn't awful but very difficult to write 2000 words about something i have just began learning about. he also uses terms and phrases that i have no idea what he means. he is smart but expects too much from a 101 class

The final paper was the only grade. I put probably 20-30 hours into the paper. I also went to all the classes, and he said in class that he would grade more favorably to those who had good attendance. I got an A but it was stressful. However, I think it was a good class. Dr. Tennant knows his stuff like you wouldn't believe and he was a great guy.
