Comment:

Had him for both Abstract 1 and Abstract 2. Really like the guy. Lectures aren't always the clearest, but office hours more than make up for it. If you keep up with the work, you're basically guaranteed at least a B. Highly recommended.

Comment:

Really helpful but really unclear most of the time. I don't like his class setup; he has students do all the proofs, so when people endlessly mess up, it's hard to follow what you actually should be learning. As a result, office hours are a must, but aren't that helpful because half the class is there, so it's just like lecture all over again.

Numbers and Polynomials is all proofs, so the class can get tough and it's extremely easy to fall behind. Professor White, however, is very helpful. He's really good about office hours. I'd HIGHLY recommending going to his office whenever you can. He's an all-around nice guy, too.

This guy is a crazy old man but cool. He plays music before each class and pranks around sometimes. Not the clearest when lecturing and Kozinski's test make the class suck. I would recommend Kozinski only because he is the one who writes the tests but you will probably make the same grade no matter who you take.

I really liked Professor White. He's one of those adorable old men you just wanna hug, and he is very easy to understand. I wish he had made the tests - maybe then I could have done a little better in the class...

This guy seems really nice and down to earth but very hard to understand, he reminds me of the family guy old dude "You like Popsicles" i think thats where they got the character from, cuz this is that guy.

Very competent, down-to-earth style, almost too common-sense to be a math professor. He was good at teaching Computational Linear Algebra (without many proofs), always knows interesting applications. Nice, normal guy.

funny guy at times. tries to be helpful, but rushes through his lectures and it is very hard to follow. cant blame him for kozinskis ridiculous exams...you can attend lecture, do all the homework and review problems you want, go to discussion AND reviews and STILL you will not be prepared for the exam...

Kozinski's tests are hard. White lectures as though he is reviewing the concepts instead of teaching them. TAs are not very helpful-but go to discussion because they collect projects (a few very hard h/w problems) and they give 4 quizzes - no drops. One drop of 4 exams. do not buy book - problems are not helpful. go to kozinski's lectures

he is not a teacher because what he does cannot by any means be described as teaching. he runs the class as if it were a quick review and you already knew everything. kozinski taught our class for two days and he was a lot better. if a worse teacher than white exists, the apocalypse is surely nearing.

Seems that all the negative ratings come from non-engineering/non-math majors. Every professor must adhere to Khuri's lecture plans. He's clear in his explanations and goes at a good speed, doesn't skip steps while doing problems. He's not very easy to approach with Qs, but then again, most prof. hate explaining calc 1 anyways. The exams are not created by him; the math dept. creates all the exams. He prepares you for what is to come. He's a friendly guy, respects his students, and teaches very well.

He is a very weird person and acts very goofy in class. He trys to add humor to class because he cant teach worth crap. If I had not taken AP I would have been totally lost because half the time, we had to tell him that he made a mistake. If you can take Khuri, my friends said she is really good.

Really nice old guy, not the world's best teacher. The ridiculousness of the material isn't his fault (it's Khuri's), and my biggest complaint is that the TA's are AWFUL. Do any of them actually know English?
