Naturally, 3-hour long night courses on the history of Canadian-American relations is dreadful, but Joanette makes the best of dry material with a variety of methods. Very engaging and usually entertaining, he will call out anyone nodding off. He was quick to remedy any worry I had about assignments or deadlines. Overall, amazing.

Best prof Ive had at Laurier. Marks fairly and consistently and really wants all of his students to do well. Lots of reading but the majority of them are interesting. Very engaging and all around good guy. #legend

Dr. Joannette is one of the best history professors. His lectures are very interesting and you can tell he is really passionate about the subject matter. He really cares about his students and makes an effort to get to know everyone. If you go to class and do the readings, you will get a good mark. He is also very funny and has great suits!

organized lectures that followed his outline written prior to class, used 2 films, clear speaker, lectures were engaging, was keen to help students, clear expectations, must read the books for the essays, gave us the outline for the exam so we could prep - great guy, loved the bowtie!

One of my favorite professors. It is important to attend all the lectures and tutorials, as well as read ALL the material (which there is alot of). He is a tough marker and it is difficult to get above an A-. The lectures are interesting and he really knows his stuff. I would recommend his classes to everyone.

This class was definitely my favourite of the semester and that was mainly due to this man. He's a very approachable professor who gives reasonable assignments and exams. I hated tutorials prior to this class, but he changed that. WLU profs should definitely take a few tips from his teaching style as well as his wardrobe! Great prof!

I've taken any course available with Dr. Joannette. By far one of the best history professor's at Laurier. Take a class with him! Lectures are always engaging, makes himself available any time to help....and an extremely fair marker!! Can't say enough great things about him!
