yes dr lawrence here's the scoop-if you like getting into groups and doing a lot of busy body work then she will be right up your alley; like another said, her curriculum is eccentric (but at least she assigned the huge norton anthologies so read the good ones later)

Hard grader, readings not from literay canon, you lern on your own. She does nothing, students do all the lecture, intro, questions, run discusssions. I honestly feel ripped off, she did not have to be in the classroom, I could of just met my classmates and had a discussion. Very full of herself, & rude. Best part she's retiring & not too soon.

She's very enthusiastic about her subjects and makes even the boring works interesting. Just showing up and occasionally answering a question will put you on her good list, which is helpful when you need a grade bump.

Dr. Lawrence was the reason I decided to become an English major. I really learned to write in her class. The class discussions were interesting and illuminating. She was demanding but very helpful. She really goes out of her way to help--go visit during office hours. Her teaching style is Socratic Seminar--helpful for Grad school.

seems "out-of-it" but is really nice. uses letter grades including +/-, not points for your essays. new out-of-class and in-class essays every 2 weeeks. i added up my final grade as a B, but got a C! lots of essays; unclear on what is an A paper

Dr. Lawrence is very enthusiastic about literature. She helped us along in our analyses of the various novels we read, encouraged class discussion, and presented a new side of analyzing literature that I find helpful, even out of her class. Great prof.

She is really happy and nice but I hated her class. I worked so hard on reading all the assignments and spent a lot of time on my essays but I still got a B. Her class has no points, its an A, B, C and so on. Very frustrating. I would not take her again.

this instructor heavily favors certain people in class. she is biased to those students who LOVE to talk,talk,talk in class. i handed in a paper and she gave me a C, and had another professor evaluate it, and gave me an A. BIASED TEACHER!!!
