Comment:

Professor Lash is the best finance professor at Loyola. The tests are difficult, but they are generously curved, so its hard to get below a B if you put work in. His lectures are very well put together which makes it easy to go to class. Overall a great course.

Comment:

One of the best finance professors at Loyola. If you do all the practice exercises he gives you, you will do fine with the midterm and final exams. The exams are pretty straightforward. Pay attention to the concept/theory behind each formula as he will question that in the exams. Thanks to him I chose finance as my concentration for my MBA program.

He gives an equation sheet for the midterm and final, however everyone I've spoken to that has taken the class agreed with me: it's useless. Many equations are missing and he uses his own abbreviations which confuses things even further. Be prepared to memorize all equations.

Good class that gives a great high-level overview of financial institutions and the relationship to our capital markets. Prof. Lash does a good job of summarizing the information from the book / other sources into his slide deck. His grading is fair, but only based on one midterm and final. He does not throw any curve balls along the way.

Very clear about what will be on the exams. He is really good at explaining answers through e-mail when studying, or in class. Expect that it if there is a question in his powerpoints that it will be important to pay attention to in class and it will be on the test. He curves the tests a lot too. Loved this course.

TAKE NOTES. I cannot stress this enough. He has powerpoints available but if you think you can just look at those and pass you are dead wrong. He uses a bunch of weird abbreviations and unless you follow along in class and add your own notes, you are screwed. Three tests make up your whole grade, so study up. But he curves grades a lot.

Professor Lash is great. Maybe because most of the materials I've covered in undergraduate, they are not very difficult for me. And prof Lash leads us to do the analysis which help understand the theories. He's generous about scores.

Lash is the man! He's a great, funny, old guy that likes the free market. He doesn't really care about the students, but he has a very common sense approach to the way he teaches that helped me learn.

I just don't know how to say Thank You to Dr. Lash on how much I learned on that class. and for all his great help. Definitely the best professor at Loyola. Get him if you can, you will learn a ton and if you take notes and prepare you can have an A. His office hours are a great help.

If you want to learn finance and especially for financ. insitutions Dr. Lash is great. He wants you to learn and explain in a logical way. Best professor ever and very helpful. If you study his notes and read the book you can get an A. He can spend a lot of office time with you until you learn and clarify everything you are confuse. Takes notes.

If you get the old edition book you should be fine. Only need book for reference. Everything on the tests are from what he covers in lectures. Lash is the type of professor that wants you to learn the information intuitively. The tests are hard if you don't understand lectures completely. If you do, you'll do AWESOME. DO NOT miss classes!!!

Great Professor. Yes, you'll learn about financial institutions, but more importantly you will learn to discuss finance. He integrates current events into lectures (and tests on them) which gives you great insight into the finance world. Share a book, only need for a few HW problems you don't turn in, but will have similar problems on exams.

Awesome prof. Curves tests a ton(but you need it). You don't need to do all the readings but some will help. Make sure to go to class, doesn't take attendance but his powerpoints are vague and has all these abbreviations that are confusing if you dont write down what it means. highly recommend
