Samaras is the real deal. He knows poetry, he knows publication, he knows academics. If you are serious about poetry, you NEED to take a class with Nick. He will help get your career rolling.

he's an ok teacher, requires attendance. the only grades are attendance and a 10 page analytical paper. He's willing to check it ahead of time though. class time is really boring, so bring coffee!!

Samaras is a great teacher. He's really helpful on the term papers, like he will correct a paper for u before the due date and if u just fix those corrections, u will most def get an A on it (unless he find more mistakes later). Was very helpful and really interesting in his talks.

I found Professor Samaras to be an excellent teacher of poetry because he is a poet, and I think one who struggles with poetry everyday. He is a very kind and nice person, and I wish students would not take advantage of that.

I've taken two courses from Samaras and was fairly disappointed. He's a great man, but not a very helpful professor. I don't understand why he chooses to include term papers and critical analysis of essays in poetry courses. Take fiction instead.

I enjoyed his class, although I felt that he could have been a little more critical of the poetry he was workshoping... but, he is a very nice man. I felt like a real poet in his class!

I did not find this class helpful for creative writing. He provided very little helpful constructive criticism -- Samaras seemed to "nice" to say anything that might help improve writing. He is a terribly nice person though.

He's great. Low pressure, yet motivating. A very interesting person, although he tends to repeat himself a lot. One of the best profs I've had at USF -- and I've had A LOT!
