Gellman is my favorite teacher at Ottawa University, he is not only wise but he is genuine. He has a lot of experience and I can tell that he is not only a genius in his field but also sensitive and aware of important issues in the world that most aren't aware of. Gifted composer as well.

If only other profs were so genuine & gentile. He may not inspire a passionate response in class, but he will be fair & interested in students. He has a natural gift for showing the beauty and wonder in music he teaches. Despite having studied at Julliard & with Messiaen, he has no pretense or ego.

He's a nice man, but a mediocre prof. This is an Orchestration class and no real instruments were brought in to demonstrate! He doesn't 'teach' orchestration that well. For a composer, he lacks some even basic knowledge of string instruments. A nice laid-back, okay prof. Quite old school though.
