Comment:
Dr. Freiden is really passionate about the subjects he teaches, but the lectures are rather dry and hard to pay attention to. The only grades are a midterm, final, and a research paper so if you don't do well on one then it is difficult to bounce back from. Nice guy but not a super interesting class.

Professor Freiden is passionate about what he teaches and tries his best to make the class enjoyable. My only issue with the class was that the only grades are 3 tests & a paper that are kinda hard even if you study, read, and go to every class. If you are someone who doesn't test well, I wouldn't recommend. However, there is no assigned busy work

Dr. Freiden is a nice guy who is really passionate about his field. Lectures are pretty boring, and the only grades throughout the semester are 2 tests and a paper, and he doesn't grade too harshly. Not my favorite class ever, but not the worst either.

His classes are pretty alright, considering the material being covered. You don't necessarily need the book, but it would probably help. The tests are kind of hard, but study a little bit and you'll pass. You're allowed 6 unexcused absences and he takes roll by having everyone sign their name on a paper.

Despite being, not necessarily compatible with this teacher, I was able to enjoy his class. The content was boring because I don't like anthropology. You could probably forego the book and just take tests based off of the lectures. He persuades you to read the book however. He gives you all the info you need to pass. Read the book, easy A, or A+

Pay attention when he talks! He doesn't write anymore than like 5 words on the board and hips around on topics so pay attention, it's boring and he asks questions. I really like the class, and he's intelligent but his style of teaching is hard to follow. His tests are hard and expects you to read! He gives out a lot of tests!

He is a great teacher and you can tell that he knows what he's talking about. But he makes it too difficult. He doesn't realize that most of us are only in the class because we have to be for an international course, not because we actually care about anthropology. He makes the information too hard to understand and tests too hard.

Great teacher! He knows what he is talking about so you will get a lot out of the class. You actually have to do the readings, study and pay attention in class. If you take notes you will do fine on the tests. He is very willing to help you if you have any question.

Nice enough professor, but makes the class far too hard for an introductory/mandatory class that most of the people don't care about. It's impossible to take notes from him as he writes three words on the board and spends the rest of the class underlining, circling, and boxing various parts of them. Read the book and hope for the best.

VERY intelligent, but desperately needs a different teaching style. Delivers boring lectures on an interesting topic. You will end up teaching yourself the material w/the chapters & readings, so it's really easy to convince yourself to skip the class. but DON'T miss more than 6; he WILL fail you.

He knows his subject but is very boring. He does not accept any type of extra credit and there is not homework or classwork. You grade is solely based on exams. IF YOU HAVE NOT INTEREST IN THIS FIELD "DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS". It is not a class that you can take to get by.

I didn't think he was too bad. He's very nice, and he's never gotten angry either. But as far as the class goes, I personally think there needs to be more quizzes, or tests or something, Because there is only 2 tests and a paper in my class. I think I could have done a lot better if there were more chances for a grade.

I *hated* this class! Avoid him if you possibly can! His lectures are really boring and he gets mad when the class won't answer his questions. The tests are hard and it's impossible to get an A on the paper. Don't expect an A in the class.. if your lucky maybe a B. Also, his handwriting is really bad to say the least.

Dr. Freiden knows a lot about his field of study. His lectures do tend to get a bit boring after a while though. Be prepared to take a lot of notes! He doesn't write them on the board or have them in a presentation so be prepared to listen carefully while writing at the same time. Also, use lots of examples on his exams to get full credit!

he's a good professor and knows a TON about his subject. Tests aren't that bad if you pay attention and keep up with the readings, but his hand writing skills are a little hard to follow at times but you can always ask and he will clarify anything you dont understand!! Take him he's good!!

for the love of god people open your mouths in class ,.. it won't kill you to actually respond to the man. He asks lots of rhetorical questions to the class as a whole, and when noone answers he answers them himself, usually with something funny thrown in. He's a great teacher, i just wish he filtered out the students who don't care.
