McRee is awesome. This class was super interesting and definitely one of my favorite classes that i have taken at UP so far. The exams are take home and consist of short answers as well as essay questions. Burglars on the job is a super good book. Don't really need crime types and criminals. He cares about students and is really easy to talk to.

I like him as a person but his quizzes are insanely hard and have really short time limitations so you have no time to review or check your work.

McRee is a very interesting person. It's fun when he gets off topic in class, but when he's not off topic, I found the class to be kinda boring. Go to class, take notes, read the articles that are assigned on Moodle. The best part of this class was that the quizzes and exams were all take home (posted on Moodle).

This class was Senior Seminar for Sociology Senior Majors, and was my ticket to a degree. Not my ideal class. Dr. McRee certainly knows his material and Ive taken several classes with him, however he ran the class "his way" and didn't consider our input. A hard teacher, but he does care about his students, and wants them to succeed!

I love McRee, he's entertaining and quirky. He clearly loves what he does. He gets excited sometimes and talks super fast, sometimes off topic, but it keeps it interesting. As long as you do the reading you will do well on the tests and quizes. He is a hard grader, but not in a mean way. He's just good.

Intersting class, it's incredible to realize how much I remember from soc even after the class. His class is intense though; definitely my hardest class and I usually end up studying around 10 hours for his tests a couple days before.

McRee is my favorite professor this semester. He is very entertaining and is always willing to help. Although it may seem there are a lot of readings and studying to do, the info is very interesting and relevant to anyone's life so it makes the class that much more interesting. It may be a harder soc 101 class but definitely worth the work!

McRee makes Sociology really exciting. He does tend to get off track often times, but it can be beneficial to students who can't stand typical lectures. His grading is rather tough, but he's a good teacher so he expects a lot out of the students.

McRee has favorites and makes it obvious to everyone in the class. Although he is very well informed, his arrogance is extremely off putting. If you do not think the same way as he does you will NOT get an A. Goodluck!

Stop b*tching and whining. Anyone that gives a**** about anything will find his classes incredibly interesting. Passionate teacher, brilliant, very helpful. If you are at least half-competent, you will get a lot from his classes. If you aren't a SOC major, I don't recommend taking his classes because it's a generous workload.

Yes he's demanding--isn't that what we are paying for? The guy definitely knows his stuff and was totally enthusiastic about teaching. Those complaing about the workload forget that he removed several assignments and changed the exams to help us out. Quit whining and read the material! The class was awesome.

Incredibly difficult! Tough grader and crams a lot of assignments in towards the end of the semester. The class is pretty self defeating, no matter how hard to try, hard to do well. 3 tests, 2 five page papers, 5 quizzes, 5 newspaper analysis, and at least 10 articles that you need to read each week.

Dr. Mcree was my least favorite prof. He is often off topic and requires as much work for 101 as a 300+ level course. I regret taking this class completely. I'm a B+/A- student, and am bordeline getting a C+ in his class. He thinks he's hysterical, and he will tell you so. Not very open to answering questions, often too busy stroking his own ego.

Dr. McRee truly loves what he teaches but isn't the most organized guy I have ever met. He crammed multiple assignments in right before the final. His grading is really hard and seemingly arbitrary at times, and the workload is inconsistent with a 100 level course. It is interesting but know that you will have to work VERY HARD to do well.

Very difficult for a 100 level class. Material is sorta interesting, and mcRee knows what hes talking about which helps.. wouldn't recommend taking this class as a 3 hr lecture - too long!

Dr. McRee knows his stuff! However, he is a very hard grader and teaches like it's an upper level class. He is very entertaining which helps keep the lecture interesting. The topics covered are a little uncomfortable, but he knows how to approach them appropriatly. I would recommend him but prepare yourself!

Worst class I have ever taken. Dreaded going to it every time. His lectures are SO boring and pointless, you will end up just day dreaming. The papers and tests are stupid. Treats you like its a 300 level class. Really didnt learn a thing all semester. GET OUT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!
