I thought this class was great. Really interesting material covered and included in the lectures. Though they were boring at times, his lectures grew on me. He's a super genuine guy who cares about his students and their concerns. A fairly easy class if you are interested in the material. The textbook "The Buried Mirror" was a great read.

Class is easy, really easy. Exams are MCQ and very straightforward (Buenos Aires is the capital of which country?) Classes may be boring from times to times, but I recommend to attend to every class and to write down everything he says. Easy A ? No, such class does not exist, I'd rather say it's a doable A and an easy A-

Nicolas is a great lecturer, his stumbling over words did not take away from the lectures in any way. He shows brilliant movie clips, art, talks about politics. The class covers a whole range of topics and is very interesting.

Interesting topic, easy grade, makes it fun, but he is one of the worst lecturer. Tho the course itself is fun and easy, the lectures he give is awful - not because it's boring, but because he stops too often to search for his words, and he stutters beyond imaginable. He loses the students' interest within seconds and note taking is hard cuz of it

Very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. Lectures were very slow and boring though, despite the subject being fairly interesting. Material is easy and tests are straightforward. It's a good class overall.

Gulino is a really nice, considerate guy who seems genuinely interested in his field, but he's an awful lecturer and it was difficult to pull myself to class. Luckily it's easy enough not to matter. Readings are good, especially course pack selections reach real depth for a low-level course.

To be honest, my cégep course of Hispanic Civilization was funnier, better organized and taught me more than this course in McGill. This prof has a lot of difficulties to get his ideas through and way too often searches for his words, losing the students. The textbook is fun, but the course pack is horribly boring, irrelevant information.

extremely disorganized and hesitant lecture. lots of irrelevant information. the textbook was great, but the coursepack was horrible. too much fluff and too many figures and random bits of information. classes were VERY hard to attend due to lack of coherence and interest. easy midterm... still waiting for the final.

Hot. His cute appearance and enthusiasm makes this otherwise mediocre class brilliant. Go to class, listen, and faze in and out; high b's all round. He also teaches intermediate spanish and HISP 226. Bellisimo, Mr. Gulino!

Prof Gulino is great! He made this class really interesting with the use of movies, artwork and objects incorporated into the history of Spanish Civilization. Good structure to course, midterm and final are non-accumulative! A lot to know though (some readings are long and boring) and the mc exams can be tricky. Great class highly recommended!

Horrible lecturer. Material is not difficult, and could be very interesting but his lectures are so incredibly difficult to follow-always off on a tangent and can't put his thoughts into comprehensible sentences. Was pulling teeth to go to class. Too bad, I'm sure he would be much better in a smaller setting-for example, a spanish language class.

This class is meant for you to enjoy and learn about spain+latin america and less about huge readings, hard exams. Thus its an easy class but very interesting. The textbook is great and class deals w/history, arts, etc. Gulino is sweet although sometimes a dull lecturer. 2 multiple choice exams. no conferences. a perfect elective!

As a language instructor not too bad. As a lecturer, bring a pillow, because you will be asleep pronto. Very nice and helpful. Has mad hotness potential, but as of yet, has not brought it out.

Amazing, the class is a pure fun. I recommend it to anyone that is hesitating between the section. He really likes discussing about history as well. In two words, he rocks.

Such a boring class. I fell asleep every class - and I was always wide awake before going! The reading wasnt that bad, and the subject could be really interesting. I would not recommend this class, and dont understand how people could call his lectures intriguing (at all). He seems like a nice person, but not a good teacher.

He's a really nice guy and he clearly is very into the subject. The fact that I had to volunteer information several times in order to clarify stuff for the entire class is not a great sign though. Really interesting reading selections.
