My score makes Peter seem like a bad teacher, but he is awesome. His class is often really hard and confusing but he guides you out of the confusing slowly, but surely. The experience I had with learning from him ended up being really enriching as I started to actually understand.

If you can, avoid taking him! The man is clearly brilliant but he lectures as if it's to grad students or like everyone already knows what he's talking about. The examples and material he uses are overly complicated for an intro level class.

You know you're in a difficult class when your linguistics major friends have no idea what your professor is teaching you. Do not take this class with this man unless you love linguistics. You will be very confused, and won't get much help.

Absolutely horrible. Be prepared to sit through long and boring lectures, only to find yourself unable to solve any of the problems on the test. The homework did not help at all, we are constantly getting problems that we have never been taught how to solve, the text book is confusing and poorly organized. Terrible class, DO NOT TAKE.

This is the most difficult class I had ever had in my college life so far! Binkert is no help whatsoever! He wrote his own book which he didn't seem to bother proof reading before he required it as a text. Don't do it, you'd be better off getting a root canal!

Has a real passion for what he's teaching. I thoroughly enjoyed his class. If you are a Linguistics major, you will like this class and this man. He wrote the book and it can be a little confusing, but he will clarify anything you want to know. Do NOT miss class though! You will undoubtedly fall behind fast if you skip/miss too much.

Linguistics is a very difficult subject to understand but professor Binkert has a lot of passion for it and a lot of passion for his students. This class is a lot of work though and very frustrating when you don't understand

teaches this course as if its a 400 level class rather than 100 level. It is extremely difficult and boring. He doesn't seem to care that people don't pass his tests. He told us that last semester the average grade for the first test was like 60% or something and the average for the second test was even lower. Dont take him if you dont have to

Professor Binkert is by far one of the very best instructors I've had. His passion for teaching comes through in every lesson and even after 30 years at it, he still shows concern for his students and does everything he can to help them succeed. I would highly recommend taking any class from him.

Prof. Binkert knows nothing about ESL and has absolutely no background in it whatsoever, but he sure likes to give his opinion. I used to love teaching ESL and he has made me loathe going to HO to teach.

Ol' Binky's not easy. If you need an easy A, you're not going to get it. I think the highest grade going into the final was a 91. The class average was in the low 70s. All that said, it was probably one of my favorite classes at OU. If you want to beat Binkert at his own game, you really have to think out every move. Worth the challenge.

I just barely made it through this class. The class average was incredibly low, his tests and homework assignments were ridiculous and covered things we had not covered in class before.

I've always liked syntax, but he made me hate it. I really considered changing my major during my time in his class. He's unnecessarily hard. He won't answer questions. I'm not a Binkert fan at all.

He made me hate Linguistics, and I am a linguistics major. I dreaded going to class and doing homework. He's not nice, he's not helpful. Avoid any classes with him if possible. He doesn't like people asking questions, and makes you feel stupid for asking.

Very difficult classes, he expects only the very best out of you. He does have you do homework on something you have not learned. He is the best professor I have ever had. I have learned more from him than I have ever learned from anyone. Do not be scared of his reputation for being intimidating, deep down he is a very nice and genuine person.

Incredibly hard class!!! He makes everyone feel like an idiot and of course, he is never wrong. Plus he expects you to do well on quizzes BEFORE going over the homework that the quiz is based on. Very bad teaching style.
