why can't she be honest about what will be on the test? why can't she explain the new, important material instead of passing over it and spending time on the useless stuff? everyone only goes to class to find more about what to teach themselves and what to skip over.

possibly the worst prof in the department, if not in my whole college experience. there is so much basic info that this genetics class should cover, that she never mentions but she assumes to be understood

The thing with Bio 200 is that even though you have the option between Bournias or Skillman, both are going to be hard. So if you want to pass, you need to read the book. Theres no way around it if you want to major in biology. However if you have the chance to take Bournias then you should take her. She's pretty caring if you go to her office.

Print out lecture notes beforehand, and study them at home. Go to SI sessions, they really help!!! Look up Youtune videos, and study! If you do the mastering biology and study the content there, you dont really have to study the book that much. Take practice tests! Study Lab Manual, and practical should be fine. Do the extra credit! I

Make sure to read the textbook, whether it is a pdf, she will insist on buying the hard copy but save money. You will have to buy Mastering Biology for your Hw make sure to do all of it! 3 exams ,5 quizzes, study guides are not helpful, mastering biology practice questions help. Multiple choice and free response exams. Extra Credit 30-40 pts max

This is a hard subject, not a hard professor. To be successful, you have to spend a bit of time studying every week. (I used YouTube videos to help me further understand the subject.) Nicole is very approachable in office hours, and responds quickly to emails. Skims through PowerPoints due so much material being covered. Posts PowerPoints online.

Gives about 3 extra credit opportunities that really helped me achieve an A. Lectures are long. She skims through her wordy/ diagram slides and tells you to read them at home. Attend all her lectures because she will tell you which slides to not worry too much about in detail. READ ALL CHAPTERS. Lab Practical easy if you read manual in detail

This professo is bad at lecturing material but if you study via the book not her notes you will do fine. I suggest going to the SI sessions got me an A on the first midterm and Bs the second and final. Ended up with a B due to lab grade but just study the book and you will succeed dont give up and dont fear the professor, STUDY!!!!!!!

Her exams are pretty tough for this course and sometimes the exam material itself felt like the complete opposite of what she would cover in lecture. You're pretty much left with a lot of reading materials to figure out on your own. She just skims through slides and doesn't seem to care to provide much help for those struggling to pass her class.

Too me nothing in the lecture made sense until I attended the SI courses she offered. The free response questions are really easy, just memorize how to draw stuff and attend any SI course that is offered for the class.

Good news: she curves and bumps you up if you show promise in her field. She is a good adviser. Bad news: with the curve, the pass rate is about half among the class of 200+ students. She is notorious for telling you what is on the test, and then giving exactly the opposite. Read the book religiously, lectures are not much help. Lab won't save you.

She is a great lady! In order to succeed, you must be able to teach yourself almost all of the topics. You will need the book, I used the previous edition and did pretty well. BIO 202 is a pretty good indicator in how you will do. Overall just understand that the material is not easy and neither is the class, but you can do it! 1 paper, 3 exams.

Dr. Bournias was there only in an administrative capacity, but she gave several assignments and was always curious as to our thoughts and experiences with the course. She's really kind, thoughtful, and outgoing. Really respect her and hope that I can take a class where she's teaching more directly.

This is the 2nd time I took this course with Nicole. I can honestly say that this year she seems more personable and more dedicated to have students succeed. I hear she's an easier grader than Skillman. The SI courses definitely helped me pass this time around. Go to her office hours, she's more vivid with information than she is during lecture.

Dr. Bournias loves the subject and is more than willing to help her students. Very approachable in Office Hours. The class requires you to read the chapters in the book and her powerpoints prior to lecture in order to succeed. Study guides are unnecessarily long and make studying more difficult. All in all, its a hard subject, not a hard teacher.

Not a great lecturer, she seems bored with the material and zooms through it. Doesnt allow time for the material to settle in. Way to proud of her high fail rate in the class. However she is approachable in office hours, but you have to be prepared to learn alot on your own.

Dr. Bournias is an amazing professor, probably the best I've ever had. I'm a math major, so naturally science isn't my forte. If you sit in front and go to her office hours she can help you so much. Also, take the adjunct class if it's offered. No it will not be an easy A, or C for that matter, but she will really show you what you're made of.

She's the WORST professor that I ever took a course with yet! She skims way too fast over slides, her exams are harder than what she covered in lecture and from the textbook. I didn't think it was possible to hate genetics until I took it with her. Everyone else here pretty much summed up what is wrong with her.
