Comment:

I took this course because I've wanted to learn more about black holes since I was a child. It delivered, and now I understand them fairly well. A great course, and Dr. Brandt worked hard to make the course interesting and enjoyable. Some of the exams were tough, but they were fair. No trick questions.

Challenging but fair professor. Excited about black holes and astronomy in general, and could convey new discoveries to the class well. Lets students choose the topics of their term papers. Was willing to help me after class.

Comment:

Very difficult class, but one of my most useful, I learned more in his class than any physics class I have taken. Tests are very difficult, he gives many many pages of notes and readings and all of it is fair game for tests. Homework is similar to Astro 291/292, take it if you want to learn a lot about x-ray astronomy and high energy objects.
