this man is a god. jokes but actually, he's great. frames foundational social and cultural theory through radical social thought and its mostly based around united states history, so keep that in mind. can seem intimidating to talk to at first, but just reach out, he's accessible!

Professor Singh is an intelligent, insightful teacher committed to widening his student's understandings of history through racial, gender, economic, and affective lenses. He assigns quite a bit of reading but the only real assignments are the five short reflection papers throughout the semester. If you listen, his lectures are very enlightening.

The structure of the class is clear and well done, if you focus in class you will get an A (you don't even have to really do all the readings). However in his dialogue I find that he assumes the ideological perspective and beliefs of the student, and gears his lectures based on these assumptions ( I also find him to be slightly hypocritical ).

He made us do a group activity because he "didn't feel like lecturing" that day when we're already like 3 lectures behind. That kind of says it all.

Concepts in SCA was by far one of the best classes I've taken at NYU. He deconstructs and delineates how systems of oppression have come to be accepted with historical support of development of thinking and law. Brilliant, passionate and challenging. I cannot recommend Singh enough. Be ready to think and do the work - it is worth it.

I wanted to like this course, but the course wasn't about history, it was about the professor. He talks too much and gives opinions about everything without care of fact

Prof. Singh is great. Lecture was informative, and the discussions were very genuine. I loved this intro class. If you like classes that are discussion based and require participation, this one is for you!

I wanted to love this class, and was hopeful after reading rave reviews about Nikhil. However, lectures were extremely boring and I found it nearly impossible to pay attention. Recitations with Stuart weren't any better. The workload was heavy, and most readings were very dense and difficult. I regret taking this class.

Lecture is thought provoking and he does a good job of building on key ideas throughout the semester. Recitation, at least with Justin, wasn't discussion based. If it had been I think I would have enjoyed attending it as much as lecture. Professor Singh is very intelligent and yes, it's a lot of reading but it's extremely relevant. Take this!

All-around pretty clear and interesting. Sometimes, he goes off on little tangents and ends up talking too much, and we get behind on lectures, haha, but it's obvious that he really wants us to learn

Nikhil is an amazing professor. He really cares about what he is teaching and about his students. He is extremely intelligent and knowlegeable but was also very laid back, and willing to work around problems. I enjoyed my class with him very much

Cool Class. A lot of reading, which you have to do to get a decent score on the final, but still a good class. He's cool too. Really into what he teaches.

I too would disagree with the previous comment, which I found distasteful. Dr. Singh has been very open to his students and have helped shape many of our works, including my own. Personally, I have grown intellectually from studying with him for the past few years...truly one of the best.

I'd was also in 491/2 and I'd like to completely disagree with the comment from the previous student in that class. Prof. Singh was open to our opinions, helpful, and on several occasions remarked how much he had learned from our class...hardly the actions of an egotist...don't be so childish!
