Comment:
Noel is a clown. The material he teaches isn't as dense as people make it out to be- so he's not really 'knowledgable about things that are unattainable for us peons', but well read in a subject matter few people still care for. Any professor that lectures about how "stupid" Descartes was is leading students astray. Newton would have hated Swerdlow

Definitely knew his stuff, and was very blunt with his comments. He told one girl her paper "was not excellent at all." His lectuers are pretty interesting, and if they get boring you can stare at his cute dog that he brings to class. Nice but gets impatient with ppl who don't understand the stuf

Actually makes some pretty dense 16th and 17th century scientific texts comprehensible, a good lecturer. Kind of aloof, didn't comment on papers at all. Had a bit of a temper when we didn't know something he thought we should, but generally a nice guy.

Babylonian math + scribes getting caned + Snape + fluffy black dog + brilliant lectures. Sleekest essay comments I've ever gotten. Doesn't spare the vitriol. Not for the faint of heart. Quote: "Focus now. This isn't a theology class. You can't believe in gravity just because someone told you to."

Since in this history course the topic is science with an emphasis on physics, I loved it! This guy seemed real cool in class, and expressed himself in a manner that made you believe he knew what he was talking about (he did, I assure you).

A really engaging lecturer, seems like the kind of guy you'd want to hang out with on weekends. Great storyteller. Of course, he doesn't even read your papers, as far as I can tell, leaving all grading to the TAs.

great lecturer; occasionally shows a sadistic side to make Severus Snape proud
