Comment:

The instructor made every class interesting. She is very funny, down to earth and her approach to cultural variety brought about a greater understanding and appreciation for other cultures. The instructor provided a safe space for sharing of misinformed knowledge and understanding. I learned a lot from this class and highly recommend it.

I highly recommend this class to graduate students who will teach languages. Norma's class balanced theory and application of cutting edge research on foreign language teaching in a transparent, accessible manner. she gave us invaluable tips on how to handle every classroom/learning situation that you can't find anywhere else. Comment:

One of the best teachers I have ever had. Made coming to class everyday at 8am seem like a treat rather than hell. Learning Spanish was fun and easy. She has a real sense of humor and would bring cupcakes in for students' birthdays. She once even treated us to Guads!

Norma is definitely one of the nicest professors I have met at UC Davis. She is extremely passionate about her job and all of her students. Making class fun and engaging is on the top of her list. She is always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who is confused or having trouble. The homework is manageable as well.You get to play soccer too!

PURA VIDA! What a character, this woman is funny,charismatic and is really eager to share her knowledge and cuture with EVERYONE. This was the "Cultural Clash" seminar. It was a fun class in which discussion was emphasized. We watched films that helped the students understand the topics of the week. Teacher was cool and relaxed. She even bought us pizza twice. It was a two hour class but time went by really fast. I would strongly recommended this class and professor.

Honestly, I'm a senior and Norma was one of the best professors I've ever had at UCD. She makes class a lot of fun and she puts a tremendous amount of effort into her class. She has a sense of humor which makes class much more interesting. No MT, short HW, 2 quick presentations, and a low-stress final. I learned a lot -- I highly recommend her.

I loved this freshman seminar! She's extremely approachable and the topic (language acquisition) is made even more interesting with her lively teaching methods. Six take-home quizzes + two short assignments = super easy A. I learned a lot just by coming to class and listening to her. Take her if you can!

This class was a seminar based on how people learn languages, and she clearly was a passionate, skilled, spanish teacher who has refined every nook and cranny of her teaching style to ensure that the students learn well. GREAT teacher! I def. recommend taking her class- she makes it an interesting hour of the day- even though class is every day.. Very understanding and actually cares about her students. Most of the time fun to be there... just watch out- she usually announces the quizes at the end of class when you're leaving so u gotta listen carefully :)

Such a fun professor! I was a little intimidated by her at first, but she turned out to be a blast! You could tell she really had a lot of linguistic knowledge, and the assignments/activities she assigned we really interesting and informative. Take a Freshman Seminar from her if you can!!!
