Comment:

I took Starr's Probability & Stats course in 1971, and as a practicing statistician, I look back fondly on this course! I also loved Prof. Starr's collecting and sending math texts to north Vietnam during that epoch. Odd from the perspective of 2009, but it showed for me his concern for learning over politics and a belief that we are all brothers

Comment:

Most helpful professor I've had so far. Even though I got lost several times during the semester trying to keep up with the speed of his lectures, he was always open to questions and set up lots of office hours. He is one of those people who will respond to emails within 5 minutes no matter what the time.

wonderful old guy! very funny and sarcastic. Tests are fair. He collects homework three times a week, but it helps you keep up with the class. He also goes over the homework before you have to hand it in, so homework's not stressful.
