I took this class because I heard it was easy, but the lecture test was very hard. Lab quizzes are easy if you study hard, but the lab tests are a little more difficult. He was very vague on what to study for the lecture test, and there was a lot of information. This class requires a lot of studying, but no other homework.

Donovan is a great guy, super funny. His tests are exactly like practice tests (which he gives you online) and there are tests from other years you can find online. Easy A if you study the practice tests and similar questions related to the practice test.

He gives interesting lectures but they are not designed to make you succeed in exams. He can be very helpful if he likes you. Otherwise, not so much. I would recommend taking this course if you are really interested in geology. If you are looking for an easy A, I suggest you take someone else.

I think Donovan is a really cool guy, but often lectures are not related to tests. The students that get copies of the old tests get As, and those that don't, don't. You don't ned to go to class, but if you are interested in learning about geology- Donovan is a pretty funny guy, and does know his stuff.

Donovan is super funny and cool, I just didn't find the subject interesting. Took it pass/fail, and have about a 78% before lab final and class final without trying. Non-cumulative exams are great! Practice tests he gives online usually are directly from test. Fairly easy natural science

Highly recommended. He was clear, concise, and straight forward. The material covered in class is the same material that will be on the exam, with little actually coming from the book. As long as you attend class, put in a bit of effort in studying, an A is easily obtainable. His tests can be a little tricky with the matching, but he's worth it.

took honors geology from him, the honors section is a debate you do at the end of the semester, its fun. his class was difficult for me but I met with him & he did everything to help me pass, he is EXTREMELY helpful, & he loves the subject & loves incorporating humor into it. GO TO CLASS, especially the review session! its where you learn!

Professor Donovan is worth taking. Knows students and understands that many people in the class have no interest in the subject. He's a good guy. He has a rock fetish - a Scottish accent, and a simple subject to teach. Provides study materials for tests and is willing to help you study more efficiently if you approach him after class.

I took this class for NSC credit, and it ended up being a nightmare. Even though I made a good effort, the material was too difficult for me. The first test is also after the Pass/Fail deadline, so I was screwed. I had to work extremely hard for just a D. Science simpletons, run away!!!

I went into this class thinking it was going to be easy. It ended up that you really had to study the practice test and the study guide very indepth.Very interesting and fun teacher. I recommend this class if you are willing to work.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. There are only two tests, so you MUST make sure you get a good grade!! I failed the first test terribly and he gave out the test AFTER the pass/fail deadline which was not helpful at all! The material is very difficult, and there are other professors for science who are MUCH easier!!!!

He's a very interesting teacher, but the class can be tough and sometimes boring. Easy B, but I fought hard for my A. The lab is also surprisingly difficult. Barely used the book. Make sure to do the study guides. Take the course, but take it pass/fail.

His class isnt very hard. I managed to get a B in there and the only real studying I did was usually the day before a test. Hint: use the online practice exams, they are VERY useful. I didnt even use my book. Go to class too, its not as boring as you would think. He makes it fun. Great professor, take his Understanding the earth for natural science

I studied my notes and the review lecture and did the practice tests and got a B-. It depends on which version of the test you get. Some have these random questions that you have never learned before. He's a good teacher, somewhat interesting, but a bit full of himself.

Do NOT take this class if you aren't interested in Geology. You can find a much easier. Natural Science credit if that's all you need it for. Not that it's really hard. It is just way more work than what I wanted for in intro level class. Try Sawey's contemporary issues in biology

Dr. Donovan is great so far. He is energetic, fun, and comprehensible in class. Labs are easy and even sort of fun. I will update this once I have taken a test in the class, but I assume they will be fair. Great class for a science credit, take it over Astronomy, definitely. *update* His tests were very difficult for me, and I would not recommend this as a blow-off class.
