I had taken Fundamentals of Music with another teacher before taking this class and it was hell. Dr. Powers actually wrote the book that he uses for this class. Excellent teacher. I would recommend this class to anyone who is interested in music and how it works.

Ollie Powers is a wonderful man and a wonderful teacher. Taking Music Appreciation opened up the whole world of music to me. He inspired me to explore new sounds and taught me how to love them. He truly has affected my life in such a positive way. I wish I could take even more classes with him. He has a very cute sense of humor and made me smile

Great class; my 11 yr old brother took it with me and passed with flying colors. I didn't get a test score under 100; 108 on my final! My brother had 90s the whole way and 102 on the final. He was kind and willing to help you understand a topic. If I was staying at VC longer I would take him again. This Fundementals of Music was an awesome class!!!

I got a C in his class took it as a freshman and now looking back I could have easily gotten an A bc he gives you study guides!!! I just never studied or went to class. He's a wonderful teacher and you can tell he loves music. You sometimes see him walking around campus with his ipod.

gives studyguide plus review session before tests, there's about six. not too hard at all but you need to go to class or your grade will suffer and you will not get the review. very clear cut about the material on tests. energetic but class is boring-attendance is big. not a hard teacher but don't slack off.
