Dr. French is a very nice professor and is very understanding. I had him for marching band, concert band, and jazz ensemble. Attend all rehearsals and performances and practice your parts; then you will be fine. Very helpful when needed and a friendly man in general.

Comment:

I had(have) Dr. French for concert band, and I was very impressed with the calibre of conductor he is. He knows the sound he wants and spends time not only on the rhythms and pitch but the tonal quality, as well, which is a rarity. He's got a great sense of humor even while working, but if you don't listen or aren't being serious, he gets strict.

He's a very good professor, I took him this semester for Intro to Music and the material is very easy. But I thought that the Mid-Term that he gave was very hard especially since it covered everything that we went over since the beginning of the semester. Basically if you go to the 4 concert you get an A on the final which I liked that.

Taking Dr. French for Community Band (non-credit). He's engaging, helpful, friendly, and makes the experience fun. Strict on chattering and use of cell phones, as he should be. Go only if you really want to have a good time and stretch yourself as a musician! Personally, I totally love band!

This class is a joke... if you show up, you'll get an A. He tells you exactly what is on the test. All tests are fill in the blank or multiple choice, but honestly, he tells you what is on the test the class before. Even if that doesn't get you an A, you can go to ESU concerts and get 10% extra credit points toward your final grade.

Yes French, chooses favorites over everyone else, but it's really reallye easy to be one of his favorites. During Band camp, or the first few weeks you have to look up at him a few times while he's conducting, talk to him, alway instead of thank you proff., say "ok cool." It's really really easy. If you know someone in the army, or military that also gives you a big time bonus. Be at band as much as you can, even if it's annoying, he intends to like that. If you do all of this, he's very nice.
