Unfortunately as a freshman I took Ramsey. Got a B in the class by shear luck. He's not very helpful, and a bit of a jerk if you come to class late and/or leave early. He did provide a study guide for one test, but don't count on much help.

simply O M G... get ready to pass ph.d in biology in his 101 class. exams are unimaginably long and boring. 90 sometimes 100 questions in his 4 exams... can not sustain a quarter if you have other major and think you dont need to give time for this 101. most probably more time taking, and hardest one in your major.

Was all material I learned in HS with a bit more detail. Easy A with multi-choice tests and written daily quizzes (also counting as attendance) being the only grades. Ramsey really likes Biology, and is probably much better in a higher level course.

If you can, do not take this professor. BUT if you do, DO NOT opt out the daily quizzes, they are super easy, he drops three, and you can use your notes. They add up to a whole test grade so they really help out. The final is optional but will replace your lowest test grade. Study using launchpad. Do not buy the book.

Ramsey was ok. He did go off on tangents a lot but he was a pretty fair teacher. Daily quizzes: max 6 ?s, can use notes, drops 2 lowest (can opt out but tests and quizzes are only grades). Tests: have to read book, not easy but not hard, no curve. Warning: he goes a bit nuts if you pull your phone out or come in late and make noise.

He has a new book to go by and from my experience its pretty easy. his tests are 90 questions so they are long but it allows more room for more points for the stuff you know so the stuff you don't know wont have as much of an affect. Been just studying the end chapter questions and attending class and have a 95 so far.

An ok class to sit through, but the tests were nothing like his lectures. READ EVERY THING IN THE CHAPTERS AND MEMORIZE IT. I studied for hours and hours and never got what I expected.

Very tough on your presentation and asks questions about things you didnt even cover and expects you to know everything about your topic and random things related to it. Talks down to every student and doesn't even give A's. Very few B's as well. Not recommended for this class at all. He's interesting in lecture and adheres to grading though

This guy was Terrible. I went to class everyday, and studied for hours for his tests. You have to read the book to understand anything because he rambles about the material in a way you cant understand. He gives a lot of tests and a daily quiz everyday. His test are HORRIBLE and don't cover what he talks about. He likes to make fun of students.

He rambles about pointless things in class. He expects his students who are taking an INTRO class to know a lot about biology beforehand so you are left confused often. His test questions are often unrecognizable even if you go over the study guide and read the chapter. I came out with a C because of the daily quizzes and attendance.

Goo to class every day because of the daily quizzes, but dont expect to get a better grade the more you study because I studies for around 18 hours on one test and did not do well. This is a tough class, but if you print out all the outlines and pay attention in class, as best you can, you should be able to make a good grade. It helps a lot to read through the book and make flashcards. A lot of the questions on the tests are from the book. Very important to do well on the daily quizzes, they help your grade tremendously!!

Ramsey was not the easiest teacher, but he made the class so interesting with his innuendo and ramblings. I only made a B in the class, but I am taking him again for 102 because he made a subject I hated in high school into a decent class. He can be arrogant but if you ask for help, he would supply it. Tips, take the quizzes and the final.

Ramsey is not a bad teacher. He's not the best, but I actually kind of enjoyed his class. He's funny if you get his sense of humor. The biggest thing is if you think you're going to be missing classes definitely opt out of the daily quizzes. If you're only going to miss a few don't worry about it. Tests were weird. I never got what I expected.
