He is an amazing professor. I have taken him multiple times. He goes on tangents and repeats stories frequently, which could bother some people. Class dynamic is usually pleasant and accepting. Always available when you need help.

This class is a mixed bag. His lectures can be funny and interesting one day, and then a total bore-fest the next. I like that he doesn't over-analyze the works that we read, but I can't fathom how he has the patience to read aloud a (long) short story in one class period. At least there's virtually no work--two papers, two tests, done.

SUCH a wonderful person, I would love to be friends with him. Extremely understanding and lenient with due dates if you are sick. He is very theatrical and made the class laugh a lot. I would definitely take him again, highly recommend

Doherty is a fantastic teacher. He engages his students and gives helpful feedback on your poems and writing. He is enthusiastic during class and goes off on tangents but, his class is fun and interesting to attend. This class isn't an easy A. If you put effort into your work and really work hard then this class should be a breeze for you.

He's okay. He has a personality, which is helpful. Still, he gets off track and goes off on tangents, which does make the class more interesting, but then you don't know what is on the test. His tests are challenging, but as long as you study, you should do fine. My biggest problem with him is he doesn't hand things back on time.

Dennis Doherty is the kind of guy that changes your life. I'm serious. He has more heart and soul than any other professor I've ever had--he's human. He's hot. He's caring and he makes you want to listen. Please take him, you will only be disappointed if you have no heart yourself. DDFORLIFE

A New Paltz institution, "Double D" is sort of like Bukowski if he had gone back to school and sobered up after leaving the post office. He's not Fenkl or Langan in terms of professional accomplishment. Yes, this was an easy A... in stark contrast to his lit classes, btw. But there's a lot of immutable heart and soul beneath the odious scowl.

Dennis is an awesome teacher, he kept me awake in a subject I wasn't interested in and overall his class wasn't that hard if you do the readings. Just make sure you read and take lots of notes on what he discusses in class. Plus, he's really sexy. I'll be taking him again!

Great class. Tells a lot of stories but they have a point if you listen. He pushed us to step outside of ourselves in order to write. Treated everyone's work with respect. I felt inspired in his class. I'm even writing poetry which I stayed away from before his class. Also, real cool to talk to outside of class.

He seems happy, and teaches well, but there's just something off about him that I can't put my finger on. He smiles, but there's no warmth there. Just a terrible emptiness like you'd find in the rusting hull of a ship forgotten at the bottom of a dead sea. Something happened to him to make him this way. I do not know what it was. No one does.
