Comment:
Dr. Hanratty is an angel! Granted, lectures can be boring (it's Genetics what do you expect); nonetheless, her lecture have everything you need to learn the material and do well on the exams. She's a very very reasonable professor and obviously wants all of her students to succeed. Tests are very doable (usually one tricky problem).

Comment:
Taking Genetics in summer with Dr. Hanratty was a great learning experience. Her lectures can be dry, but that is not surprising, given the course's nature. She clearly defines what students must know, gives many excellent study materials, and answers questions well. Doing problems consistently is critical to succeeding in this fast-pace course.

I think Pam was a great professor. I took this course during the summer and I really learned alot! The lectures were long and contained alot of information... not more than what I expected considering the condensed time frame. Long worksheets due for learning groups 2xwk. long tests. However study guides and wkshts are immensely helpful!

Comment:
Extremely boring lectures. Seriously. To be fair it is a pretty dry subject. Very nice lady though (seemingly), and will explain things to you if you ask the right questions. Tests are pretty similar to the study guides, but you have to be on it to get that A. If you know of a bettereasier prof during the school year, I would say take it then.

She seems like nice lady, HOWEVER, lectures were extremely boring and the tests were extremely hard. The class was overall boring and hard. I barely got anything out of it.

Her voice is extremely annoying. Her lectures are long and rambling. Her power points do not help with understanding. She is nice, but her lectures are unbearable to sit through. There is a ridiculous amount of busy work. When over half the class is failing she decides to curve it. What about just making the tests a bit easier???

She's very easy going and writes out notes so that you can copy them in an appropriate amount of time. She has no problems answering questions. Her tests are written by the UTAs and are VERY long in the summer session (usually 2-2.5 hrs!), but it's easy to get an A so long as you study adequately in her course.

The class was a little boring and she seemed to ramble on a lot, but all of the important information was presented. She seemed nice, but on a few occasions she was very disrespectful to some students.

She just rambles on in class and makes class extremely boring. Her tests are made up by the UTA's and they can be very difficult. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Prof. Hanratty really knew a lot about biology. She had outlines for each lecture and provided ample extra credit opportunities. She would sometimes get behind in lectures though.

I took her genetics class a few semesters ago and it was great. She is very organized and is always available for help. Whenever I had a problem and I emailed her, she was quick to respond even though there were 300 people in our class. The weekly homework and discussion sessions were helpful in preparing for the exams. Great professor!
