Lectures are a bit dry at times, but if you pay attention and take notes, you will do fine on the exams. Come to class because participation matters, and in class work is often graded. Extra field trips were really cool and helpful, and the study guides are very clear. Very knowledgeable about her field.

Pam is a wonderful professor, but her lectures are quite dry. However, all of her large tests depend upon her lecture content, so skipping class or zoning out are not options. She is very caring and attempts to elevate the class beyond normal with fun field trips and group presentations. Overall, knowledgable teacher.

Good overall prof just very dry to listen to. Her material is easy to learn and understand and exams follow the lecture notes exactly. She has daily participation activities with groups for points so be sure to come to class. Very little points in the class so the participation points do matter. Teaches material well.

Prof Sarigiani is a super nice person. She tries really hard to engage the class using a wide assortment of activities from the perspective of a child (using play-dough, decorating surgical masks, ect). Get the book to do the reading reflections and look over your notes on the exams, you will get an A. For sure recommend this professor!

She is such a caring and sweet teacher and class discussions were always interesting. Study guides before tests can give you a pretty exact idea of what to expect for the tests and if you study they are not bad at all. We went on field trips in this class and always did interesting and fun things during the lecture time.

I also agree, the textbook is not essential. Have an interest in the stuff she is teaching, it is very helpful to your future, especially in this field. She does her best to make lectures interesting (using different types of media). Exams aren't easy but they are not extremely hard. Try and you will get a good grade. Take notes in class.

Love her! She is so sweet and cares. I agree that you don't need to purchase the text book at all, just take notes in class on the power points and you'll be fine. Her tests are short, 20 or so multiple choice and 5 short answer essay questions. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she does give you participation assignments daily almost.

If you go to class do not buy the book. Her power points are straight forward and you can count on that exact material being on the tests.

Very sweet professor. She gives you everything you need to to well. If you pay attention in class and take good notes, you should be fine. She's very straightforward with what she expects, and very reasonable. She's not very outgoing, but she's very nice and helpful, so don't be afraid to approach her! Makes the class interesting, and a great prof.

She seems like a nice lady, but even after a professor I felt like she was very difficult to read. You don't know if you're pissing her off or saying something she agrees with. Very difficult grader. Textbook is helpful only when studying for tests.

Pam is very nice and brings a lot of different media into lectures to keep things interesting. The class is pretty easy but you must attend class and take notes. Exams aren't too bad if you look over your notes but there is no study guide.

Don't avoid her. She is really nice and class is not that difficult. Come to class for the participation points. The exams are fine as long as you look over your notes. She uses other videos and movies in the class to help make it more interesting.

VERY hard prof for this class!DOES NOT GIVE ANY STUDY GUIDE OR OUTLINE AT ALL FOR THE TESTS! Tests are tricky! You are on your own for trying to figure out what you will be tested on! 3 tests, 1 portfolio, and participation is ALL that makes your grade! GO TO CLASS you will need all of the participation points because of the hard exams! AVIOD HER!!

Best professor I've had at CMU. I love her style of teaching. She explains things very well, and you do a lot of hands on group work in class to help u understand the material. 3 exams and one big paper. Go to class, take good notes, and it's an easy A!! Don't buy the book. Pam is awesome...definitely take her!!!!

Class was so boring & seemed to drag on. Most of it consisted of filler material because we had to meet for 3 hrs. once a week. There was no pizazz at all to her lectures either. She just spilled out fact after fact, then plugged in an occasional video clip, or passed out a handout to use in group activities that would kill time.

She runs this class just like all her others. You don't need the book, but you definitly HAVE TO come to class. Take down all her notes, study them carefully, and you'll do fine. She keeps class interesting and uses a variety of teaching methods-videos, speakers, gp. work. Enjoyed the class!
