Comment:

Dr. Hayward is one of the most wonderful professors I've had at AU. She is clear is what she expects and gives you adequate time to prepare for exams. There is no textbook because this course uses journal articles. To prepare for class you have to read and be prepared to discuss as well as answer questions relating to the article. Not bad at all.

Comment:

Lectures can be boring, but she is very sweet and cares about her students! I enjoyed having her. Tests are not hard if you listen in class. She gives extra credit when she can. I liked how we could pick our own topics for assignments, too. I like that she is willing to help students and makes sure that we do well.

2 tests, mostly speeches that start off short and get longer. Even if you hate public speaking, Dr. Hayward will make you feel SUPER comfortable. She makes sure that the class is a safe zone for nervous speakers. Definitely recommend to get over your fear. She's equally an incredible person and professor. I would take it all over again.

Allows for students to choose their speech topics freely. Very clear in directions. Not a very gifted lecturer, and don't expect your public speaking to improve based off her feedback. If you read every speech off of a sheet of paper, you will pass with a 100.

Dr. Hayward is really laid back and chill. She is clear about what she wants, and its very easy to do the assignments. The only thing is you have to be somewhat comfortable speaking. I used to have a lot of speech anxiety but now having done multiple speeches, I am more comfortable speaking and don't get nearly as nervous.

Dr. Hayward was the best for speech class. The test were from the notes. I only used the book for in class group work. The speeches are easy if you stick to her outline and do everything she says to do. Every Friday we had an easy online discussion posting instead of attending class.

I took this as a hybrid course and dr hayward was the best! As long as you do your work when you're supposed to, show up to class and participate and pay attention you are guaranteed to get a good grade. She has her strict grading but as long as you stay on it you'll do great. I loved her!

She uses the ASU Comms book and podcasts to teach. Graded work was 2 speeches, 10 discussion postings online, and small assignments(outline,source citations.) I learned a lot and really enjoyed her class. She really will help you out if you are a nervous public speaker.

By far, Dr. Hayward is my favorite professor and person at ASU. She explains concepts crystal clear, loves her students, and makes everyone feel welcome and wanted. I didn't have her this semester, but I went and sat in on her class that I've already taken almost every day. TAKE HER!

Dr. Hayward is by far the best professor at ASU. She knows her stuff and can explain every concept clearly in class. Her sense of humor is great..she is very witty. Very helpful if anything is at all confusing! If you take notes and read, you will be fine and will make a good grade. She is really interesting and incorporates many helpful activities into her discussions to aid in understanding. I would definitely suggest her to everyone!

If you ask her for help she gets an attitude with you. She expects you to know the syllabus and if you ask anything that is on the syllabus she gets an attitude with you. With all the classes we have, who really has time to study a syllabus? She doesn't really go over the material that will be on the test, even after weeks, so that makes it hard.

i am taking her now and she is awesome! i was a business major, but switch to comm after being in her class for a few weeks. absolutely take her any chance you get!!! she makes things fun and she is funny. wonderful teacher :)
