Labadie is one of the best Econ professors I have taken thus far, and you will learn a great deal about financial econ from taking her class. She is not only very smart, but also very skilled in explaining concepts in lectures. Class is straightforward: 2 midterms, a HW project, and a final, but she really tests to see if you know the key concepts.

It is very important to attend lectures to do well on her exams. She has an incredible background and by far one of the best Econ profs at GW. She is very knowledgeable on her topic. 3 exams, all similar to the years before. There is a really easy group project at the end. Definitely recommend to all Econ majors, this class is a great elective.

Labadie is a really great econ professor. Financial Economics can be a dry subject, but she teaches it very well and explains complicated topics in a clear way. Her lectures are very dense, though so missing one class can be fatal because of the material missed. I would recommend her to anyone interest in finance or economics.

Clearest econ pof Ive had at GW. She has an amazing background and incredible understanding of the topic. If you attend class exams are very fair and you should do well.

Labadie is fantastically smart but that can be a downside when she goes off on a 30 minutes tangent. Her lectures are great if you're interested in econ/finance but are otherwise pretty unorganized and boring. She provides awesome lecture notes and past exams to use when studying, which are all you need (don't really need to attend all classes).

Prof Labadie is very award of the materials she taught, and she also did a good job on introducing the basic idea on the dynamic macro model. The notes she gave us is helpful. Be sure to read Lucas, Kreuger, and Sargent's text, if you follow the readings and do the exercises, you could definitely learn a lot. But the exams are long and tough.

I don't know whether I found the subject to be dry or Labadie to be, but 2104 simply wasn't an intellectually stimulating experience for me. Exams are difficult but slightly curved, and there is a long and tedious project at the end that you would be better off starting early (easier said than done I know). Bottom line, she is nice but uninspiring.

Professor Labadie is very clear and helpful in lectures. This is a tough class regardless of who is teaching it, but I felt like Professor Labadie really cared about me doing well. I am taking another class with her next semester because she was so wonderful.

Like most econ professors at GW - hard and boring. Expects a lot from students but gives you all the materials you need to get a good grade if you work hard - provides detailed slidesnotes and sends weekly email updates. She is a hard worker and def does her part but it just doesn't really seem like she enjoys teaching. I hated going to lecture.

Grade consists of three "midterms" and one homework assignment. Tough class, keep up with readings and attend lecture even though some students do not show up, you will get the content so much more. Interesting class and she is brilliant. Go to office hours, very helpful. Challenging class, but I loved it.

Professor Labadie is INCREDIBLY INTELLIGENT, which comes through easily in her lectures. She is great at explaining relatively dry material, and makes it interesting, especially for those who want to learn about the subject. I loved taking this class with her, and thought it was easy to get an A if you read her lecture notes.

Has a PhD in econ from Chicago, taught at Columbia and Stanford, she's one smart cookie. Don't expect the class to be easy, but if you put in the effort to learn the material and ask questions you can get an A.

Attend class. Only way to get a decent grade. The book is helpful and she uses it but the majority of the questions are from her notes or lectures. Boring material. Make sure you study the exams she posts on BB. 1 looong hw, get it out of the way asap. Exams are brutal and long but straightforward. Study well in advance.

She is veryy smart (taught stochastic calc @ Columbia business school!) not sure what she's doing @GW then, but take her. She reads the PP for some chapters bc there's not many ways to describe how the FED works. For the more interesting parts of the course though, she uses her own lecture notes. Tests are fair (3) and there is one hw worth 15%

I really enjoyed this class. At first it seemed intimidating and worse-dry- but once you get into the material Professor Labadie makes it really clear and with a little effort on your part it doesn't seem so hard at all. She is always more than willing to help. Lecture notes are key. The only drawback I can think of is that it was on the vern.

A dry subject, but she does pretty well with it. Some of her slides are taken straight from the book; reading is very important. Tests are in blue books & subjectively graded. One homework/research assignment near the end of the course that takes quite a bit of time and is worth 10%. Attendance optional but highly recommended.
