Comment:

He really knows what he is talking about when it comes to the Adobe suite, and if you don't understand, he will really take the time to make you understand. However, the class only has two or three projects for the entire semester, and they must look exactly like the initial sketches - even if you made improvements.

He is very good at Adobe programs, and will not let you forget it. His lectures are usually 3 hours long and at least half the class falls asleep. You work on two projects for the entire semester, and if you don't do them exactly his way, you will fail. However, he is very good about explaining things to you if you don't understand. Too much work.

Take Parker if you don't care about how you're doing in the class. He assigns two things throughout the whole semester, you don't really get the chance to be creative, and your ENTIRE grade relies on those two assignments. He is not accessible outside of class and has a specific way of doing things, if you don't do it exactly that way you will fail

Comment:

Parker is an awesome guy, and will teach you step by step procedures in Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. He does talk a lot about his house/various gadgets/back when he was at Pratt. He doesn't give a lot of projects, but expects variations and improvements. Don't change your mind about something! He expects you to stick to your initial ideas.

Comment:

Pros: Knows a lot about the Adobe programs, really teaches you a lot about how to use In design, Illustrator and Photo shop, teaches you how to mount correctly. Cons: Harsh grader for no god damn reason, assignments are boring as hell, he's a smart ass and is not afraid to show it, Gives you useless feedback on your work.

Parker knows a scary amount of info about anything and everything Adobe and beyond. The only problem is that his Advanced Studio Procedures class is very lecture based, and there is no in class participation when learning the techniques, so you just take notes. This class is by no means difficult. Yet, he is a wealth of knowledge regardless.

He knows what he is talking about from working in the field, in that respect I learned a lot. but otherwise he didnt teach anything on the computer, and didnt give very clear or constructive feedback. he really is a funny guy tho, i have to give him that.

parker won't teach you design unless you really push him for his opinion. it is a technical class and you will leave there knowing so much about the programs and the design profession itself.. which is really what the class is about. great prof. and very easy on the eyes.
